Appeared in the independent Appeal Wed., Dec. 2, 1998 James Laiford Messer James Laiford Messer, age 80, died on Tuesday, No. 17, 1998, at Chester County Nursing in Henderson. He is a retired retail lumber sales and contractor in Bartlett, a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Adamsville, and a member of Masonic Lodge-Eastern Star Chapter 330 in Adamsville. Services took place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville. Burial was held at Adamsville Cemetery. Officiating the services were Ministers Irvin Hayes and Frank Kemper. Pall bearers were Tommy Ross, Shorty Freeland, Sam Latham, Max Goodrum, Rex Goodrum, and Gene Goodrum. Mr. Messer was preceded in death by his father, W. M. Messer and his mother, Ella Littlefield Messer. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Messer, two daughter, Brenda Tedford of Henderson and Ann Page Harrison of Adamsville, and two grandchildren.
