Members: The year 1867 is the first year we have a surviving property tax list, prior years were lost or destroyed. This will be the first in a series of postings of the year 1867. The list is by district, starting with number one and the property owners are alphabtized. The first column is district number The second column is name of property owner The third colum is number of acres owned The fourth column is dollare value amount of property The fifth column is 1= the person paid a poll tax to vote, 0= the person did not pay a poll tax and therefore was not eligible to vote. The names are spelled the way they appear in the books, I did not correct them, so be sure and look at various spellings when looking for a name.
