Does anyone have any information on the Joel Gibson and Josiah or Henderson Riggs families of McNairy Co. The Gibson family moved to TN from NC about 1847. He was probably dead by 1860 as wife, Nancy was listed alone with the children. They lived in Purdy and Bethel Springs. Children: Lemuel (died as POW during Civil War, Samuel, Andrew, Margaret, John. Elmira, And Emily Jane. Emily married into the Riggs family by marring Wm. Henderson about 1867. I don't know if they were married in McNairy or neighboring, Hardeman or Fayette. The Riggs family came from NC to Fayette Co. about 1840. I will appreciate any help.
