My family is from east Texas. I am trying to find out if our family is related to James Girard Garrett. James was born somewhere in Tennessee in 1806. He moved to Louisiana as an adult and joined the New Orleans Greys. He died defending the Alamo in 1836. My ancestor William Garrett lived in Tennessee. He was married twice, to Sara Melton and Susannah Huggins. The family moved to Indiana, passed through Arkansas before settling in east Texas in the mid 1840's. Could you refer me to someone who might be able to help? I know that children of the first marriage were born in (Jesse Columbus Garrett) McNairy County. William Garrett married his second wife Susannah Huggins in Giles County, TN.
