Margarett's maiden name has become known since this LIST began. [!!!! Thanks to Bobbie Wilson !!!!] We do not yet know the names of her parents. Elijah and Margarett married in probably Stewart Co, TN abt 1823 and had ten children. After Margarett's death, Elijah m (2) EMOLENE HIGGINS MORRIS in 1859/1860 and they had three daughters. Children of Elijah and Margarett were: 1. John Dancer b 1825 TN - killed by outlaws just after CW - m 26 Jul 1844 in Benton Co, TN to FRANCES COMBS - family moved to Arkansas. Seven children. 2. [son] Dancer b 1827 - on 1830 & 1840 census only 3. Eliza Jane Dancer b 2 Dec 1828/29 in TN d 24 Feb 1902 in Uvalde Co, TX - m 25 May 1850 in McNairy Co to SAMUEL MITCHELL MCLAUGHLIN - ten children 4. Sarah Courtney (Sally) Dancer b 1831 in probably Humphreys Co, TN - d 1869 TN due to hardships suffered during the War. She m ZADOC SMITH BERRY [no m record at this time] and had three children. 5. William Walter Dancer b 29 June 1833 Humphreys Co, TN d 4 April 1906 Alcorn Co, MS. m 17 Feb 1853 in Tishomingo Co, MS to NARCISSA BROWN - nine children 6. Elisha Carl Dancer b 1835/36 in McNairy Co, TN death date and place unknown - m JEMINA FRANCES WARDLOW abt 1857 - four known children. 7. Elijah Dancer, Jr. b 1838/39 TN d 7 June 1864 in the Battle of Cold Harbor, VA m PIETY LAMBERT 23 July 1858 Tishomingo Co, MS - had two sons. Son Elijah Mitchell migrated to TX & is listed in Denton Co in 1880. 8. Maria Elizabeth Dancer b 13 Oct 1844 MS d 1875 Lee Co, MS m 15 July 1869 [ marriage location unknown] DANIEL PITTSER SEAY [record from family Bible] - two children 9. Susan M. Dancer b 1844 TN or MS - listed on 1850 McNairy Co and 1860 - no further information. 10. Henry Parker Dancer b 10 Aug 1849 Ramer, TN - d Nov 1925 at Ramer - m abt 1868 [no record found to date] to SARAH P.(Sallie) GARRETT - eight children Children of Elijah and Emolene were: 11. Martha A. (Mattie) Dancer b 1861 McNairy Co, TN m 226 Nov 1888 in McNairy Co to JOHN V. WRIGHT DROKE - one known daughter - Mattie's death date unknown. 12. Nancy E. Dancer b 1863 m 12 May 1882 in McNairy Co to J. M. Deathridge - no further information 13. Mary L. Dancer b 1868 McNairy Co, TN d unknown - may have married R. H. Clemmons 27 May 1885 & if so her name was listed as Mary L. H. Dancer. No further information. The first husband of Emolene was John Morris. We do not have the marriage record for either the Morris marriage or the Dancer marriage. After the death of Elijah Dancer, Emolene and son, W. E. Morris and perhaps the Dancer daughters and families migrated to Texas to live in Parker County. She died in Parker Co and is buried in the Peaster Cemetery as Emolene Morris.
