Hi, everybody. I'm also working on the CASE family in McNairy County because one of my BAUCUMs married into it. This is what I have. It's based on the 1850 McNairy Co census (8th district, Households 1169, 1172, 1173, 1174, 1175), plus a few entries in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses. It is also based on McNairy County deed record (Book F, p. 296, 21 October 1856) where the children of Jonas Case are shown together selling their inherited property to William B. Hill. Children listed are Charles Case, E. M. [sic] Harris, Caroline Justice, Joel B. Harris, M. D. W. Case, Alexander Justice, John D. Case. There is another McNairy County deed (Book L, pp. 224-5, 13 January 1872) that sheds light on Jonas' son, Aaron H. Case. (He's the one married to a BAUCUM.) This deed cites an earlier Chancery Court case (and transcribes it in its entirety - great, since the original records are gone). Apparently, Jonas Case had left property to his two soncs, Aaron and John D., but Aaron died in the middle of the transaction. Many years later, John D. wanted to sell the property, but his earlier transaction must be taken care of first. This deed lists Aaron's wife and heirs - Elinor (Ellender Baucum Case) and children Charles, W. L., and E. A. H. Case. Anyway, this is what I've got on this family: Jonas E. (McNairy Chancery Court, pp. 509-10 10 April 1874) She was still a minor and so her guardianship was taken over by Daniel A. HILL (her uncle, married to Elender's sister Eliza Jane), Wiley BAUCUM (her uncle, her mother's brother), and R. H. HILL. (Guardian Bonds, p. 118 March 1874, she is listed as E. A. PRESTON, minor child of A. H. CASE). (Guardian Settlements p. 38, October 1874.) She later married S. E. HASTINGS (Marriage Book f, p. 226 9 Oct 1874). 5. Charles CASE b. 1826 NC m. Alexander JUSTICE 7. Nancy CASE b. abt 1835 TN 8. Mary Ann CASE b. abt 1837 TN Hope this adds to the general information. If anyone can help me please with Aaron H. Case (#4 above), I would be very grateful. He died in 1856 and I haven't been able to locate Elender [Baucum] Case anywhere after that. I presume she remarried, but McNairy Co marriage book A is gone. I think she had died by the time of the guardianship (1874). Does anyone know anything about her and her children? Can't tell if they stayed in McNairy County or if they left. Thanks very much. Joanne Baucum ---------- > From: Johnita P.
