Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper, Wed., Aug. 24, 2005 JOHNNY DAVID OSBORN, age 48, of Selmer, TN, passed away on Aug. 20, 2005, at McNairy Regional Hospital. He was a sheet metal mechanic/electrician, a member of the Selmer Moose Lodge where he was recently elected Governor, and was active in various charity benefits in the community. Mr. Osborn was preceded in death by his mother, Pattie Bright Osborn, and two sisters, Peggy Sanders and Wilma Sweatman. He is survived by his father, David Osborn of Ramer, TN; one daughter, Elizabeth Osborn of Selmer; one son, Alex Osborn of Selmer; one sister, Nella Steadman of Ramer; and one brother, Marvin Osborn of Ramer. Services were at 3 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 24th, at the Shackelford Funeral Home with burial in White Oak Cemetery in Ramer. "TED" TICE: Funeral services were held Fri., Aug. 12th, at Coleman Funeral Home in Corinth, Mississippi, for Mr. Ted Tice. Reverend Dennis Smith, of First Baptist Church in Corinth, officiated over the ceremony. Ted was buried at Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Biggersville, Mississippi, with full military rights. Ted was born June 23, 1970, in Wichita, Kansas. He was a 1996 cum laude graduate of Mississippi State University and a 3rd class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. Ted and his family moved to Richmond, Indiana, in 1998. He was a systems analyst for Belden Corporation in Indiana. Ted died as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident, which occurred on Hwy. 27 in Richmond on Sat., Aug. 6, 2005. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brent Tice, and grandmothers, Viola Burgess and Cortez Tice. Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Jennifer Pardue Tice, son Brently, and daughter Kaitlyn Tice. He was the son of Larry P. and "Ginger" Burgess Tice of Corinth, Mississippi. Ted also leaves two brothers, Kenny Tice of Ethelville, Alabama, and Johnny Tice of Corinth, and mother and father-in-law Sam and Lila Mullins Pardue, also of Corinth. Ted had many friends and relatives in the Corinth area, as well as Richmond. Selmer family included Opal Huggins, Gail Randall, Kenneth Mullins, and Kim Doucette and family. He will be greatly missed. ..................... VASHTI SLATE, age 91, of Memphis, TN, and residing at Tri County Nursing Home, passed away on Aug. 8, 2005, at McNairy Regional Hospital. She was a member of Decatur Trinity Christian Church in Memphis and retired from Southern Central Paper Company. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Slate, Sr., and two grandchildren, Travis Anglin and Shirley Anglin. She is survived by her three children, Shirley Moore of Crump, TN, Beverly Archer of Millington, TN, and Herb Slate of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, ten gr-grandchildren, and ten gr-gr-grandchildren. He was a construction worker, member of the Bethel Springs Church of God, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. McKinzie was preceded in death by his parents, Mancel and Leora Smallwood McKinzie; and two brothers, Shan McKinzie and Brodie Smallwood. Mrs. Wallis was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Luvenia Pierce Swindle; her husband, Guy Clifton Wallis; one son, William "Bill" Wallis; and one grandson, Michael Wallis. She is survived by one daughter, Ann Lewis of Osage Beach, MO; four sons, Melvin Wallis of Bethel Springs, TN, Robert G. He was a construction inspector, a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam for 15 months, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Vet Motorcycle Chapter B in Little Rock, AR. Mr. McCormack was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Granville and Louise McNatt McCormack. He is survived by his companion, Regina Brooks and son Brian Thomas Brooks of Mablevale, AR; his ex-wife, Shirley Martin Wren of Guys, TN; one son, Cedrick McCormack and wife Donna of Corinth, MS; two sisters, Sandra Whitten and husband Wayne of Selmer, TN and Yvonne Cannon of Cleveland, TN; one brother, Michael "Moe" McCormack and wife Vivian of Cleveland; one grandchild, Will McCormack; five nieces and four nephews. DELMAS "DALE" MCRAE JORDAN, age 60, of Henderson, TN, passed away on Aug. 17, 2005, at McNairy County Regional Hospital. He was born in Bolivar, TN and lived most of his life in Selmer, TN and Henderson, the son of Ophelia Homes Jordan and the late Alton McRae Jordan. He attended school in Selmer. He worked as a truck driver for East West Trucking Company, Smith's Cabinets of Corinth, Smith Metals, Spectrum Corporation, Classic Transportation Service, and as a barge pilot. He served in the U.S. Army and Vietnam War. Other than his mother, he is survived by his special friend, Peg Walker of Henderson; one brother, Steward Wayne Jordan and wife Durrell of Selmer; one niece, Shannon Flanagan; and two nephews, Justin Jordan and wife Janet, and Jason Jordan. He was retired from Whalley Construction, loved playing dominos and was a Baptist. Mr. Cagle was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Henry and Violet Parham Cagle; one sister, Mattie Lee Merritt; four brothers, R. H. Cagle, Allen Cagle, James Cagle and Orvin Cagle; and two grandsons, Dennis Schorzmann and Troy Jones.
