    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper, Wed., Aug. 17, 2005 THERESIA ANN WHITWORTH, age 51, of Selmer, TN, passed away on July 30, 2005, at her home. She was disabled. Ms. Whitworth was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Lucille Wakefield Whitworth. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Services were at 1 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 3rd, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Brad Austin officiating, and also at 3 p.m. on Thurs., Aug 4th, at Watkins & Son Funeral Home in Parma, MO. Burial followed in Bernie Memorial Gardens in Bernie, MO. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ DUSTIN EDWARD SYKES, infant, of Selmer, TN, passed away on July 25, 2005, at McNairy Regional Hospital. He was the son of Linda Perkins of Selmer and Eddie Sykes, also of Selmer. He is survived by maternal grandmother, Linda J. Perkins of Finger, TN; maternal grandfather Ron Perkins of Deland, FL; paternal grandmother, Linda Russell of Finger, paternal grandfather, Robert Villier of Johnson City, TN; maternal gr-grandmother, Elsie Rimides of Sarasota, FL; paternal gr-grandparents Landoff and Ruby Hickman of Selmer; three aunts, Carol Defouw, Tammy Kemp, and Jessica Villier; one uncle Mike Defouw; and cousins Jennifer, John, and Chris Defouw. Services were at 3 p.m. on Thurs., July 28th, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Aaron Moss officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer. Funeral services for Mrs. BRINIE CHOATE THRASHER were at 11 a.m. on Wed., Aug. 17, 2005 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Comer officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer, TN. Mrs. Thrasher died early Monday in Lexington. She was born on June 30, 1921, in Bakerville, TN to the late Babe and Flora Wyatt Choate. She was a homemaker and a member of Sand Ridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Senator Andrew Justin Thrasher. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Strickland and husband Richie of Lexington; her brother, Maurice Choate of Savannah, TN; two sisters, Ruby Katherine Braud of Savannah and Virginia Witherspoon of Hendersonville; two granddaughters, Stephani Davis and husband Darrell, of Murfreesboro and Brittany Strickland of Lexington; and a gr-grandson, Nathaniel Davis. Pafford Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. ................ CARL O. HILL, age 75, of Adamsville, TN passed away on Aug. 7, 2005, at his home. He was a member of Maggie Jones United Methodist Church, member of American Legion Post 90, a U. S. Army Korean War veteran, a retired care dealer and barber. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, John Calvin and Honor Mae Melton and one brother, Calvin Earl Hill. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Elizabeth Perkins Hill; one daughter, Charlotte Mayfield of Michie, TN; one step-daughter, Tracy Helwig of Coon Rapids, MT; six sons, Carl Richard Hill of Colorado Springs, CO, Jimmy Hill of Bethel Springs, TN, Jerry Hill of Somerville, TN, Terry Lynn Hill of Medon, TN, Charles (Tom) Michael Hill of Bolivar, TN, and Gary Michael Hill of Adamsville, TN; two step-sons, Robert Anthony Bauer of Ham Lake, MI, and Jimmy Hampton of Bartlett, TN; five sisters, Maggie Floyd of Memphis, TN, Mildred Pyron of Selmer, TN, and Callie Lipford, Birdie Black, and Allie Wagoner, all of Adamsville; twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen gr-grandchildren. Services were at 1 p.m. on Thurs., Aug. 11th, at Maggie Jones United Methodist Church with Keith Brown officiating. Burial followed in Mars Hill Cemetery in Adamsville. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ ROBERT KEATON WHITE, age 68, of Memphis, TN, died on Sun., Aug. 7, 2005, at the V. A. Medical Center of Memphis. Mr. White was born in Adamsville, TN on June 28, 1937, and formerly resided there. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. White was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of Germantown Baptist Church, former member of the Petroleum Club and a former member of Woodland Hills Country Club. He is survived by one daughter, Robyn Carol Cummings of Memphis; one son, Robert T. White of Memphis; one sister, Carolyn Gilchrist; and five grandchildren. Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. White Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wed., Aug. 10th, at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar. The internment was at 2:30 p.m. at Milledgeville Cemetery in Milledgeville, TN. The White family requests that memorials be sent to the Germantown Baptist Church Children and Youth Ministries or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of Memphis. Memphis Funeral Home and Cemeteries was in charge of the arrangements. ................ GEORGE T. GRAHAM, SR., age 86, of Selmer, TN, passed away on Aug. 12, 2005, at his home. He was a member of Selmer First United Methodist Church, a retired Commercial Contractor and City Building Inspector, former Scoutmaster of Troop 32, veteran of U. S. Army serving as Army Medic T-4 and former member of Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents, John Bell and Eulah Graham; one son, George Thomas Graham, Jr.; four sisters, Heater Hollis, Maggie Wooten, Irene Moore Smith, and Mary Frances Hawkins; and three brothers, J. B. Graham, Louie Graham, and Charlie Graham. He is survived by his wife, Nunie Mae Jones Graham; one daughter, Brenda Kay Kelley of Foley, AL; two sons, Jerry Robert Graham of Selmer and Tommie Lynn Graham of Cleveland, TN; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen gr-grandchildren. Services were at 1:30 p.m. on Sun., Aug. 14th, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Zolon Clayton and J. D. Matlock officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer. BEULAH MODEAN BUTLER, age 92, of Pocahontas, TN, passed away on Aug. 12, 2005, at St. Vincent Doctor's Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson and Claudie Tranum Bodiford; her husband, W. C. Butler; and one daughter, Nola Jean Wardlow. She is survived by four sons, Don Butler, and Jerry Butler, both of Selmer, Jack and wife Faye of Holly Grove, AR, and Jimmy Butler and wife Annie of Munford, TN; one sister, Lee Ricks and husband, Harvey, of Arlington, TN; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen gr-grandchildren. Services were at 11 a.m. on Mon., Aug. 15th, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Henry Cemetery in Corinth, MS. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ BILLY DAN THOMAS, age 71, of Adamsville, TN, passed away on Aug. 12, 2005, at his residence. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard for 9 years, member of Bethany Christian Center, and worked for the State Highway Department. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Sara Bromley Thomas; three sons, Kevin Thomas of Cordova, TN, Stacy Thomas of Charlotte, NC, and Patrick Thomas of Savannah, TN; two sisters, Mary Sue Smith of West Memphis, AR, and Joyce Tanner of Stantonville, TN; two brothers, Jimmy Thomas and Joe Thomas, both of Selmer, TN; and six grandchildren. Services were at 1 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 16th, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah, TN with burial in Crump Cemetery in Crump, TN. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ MARY RUTH BARNES MITCHELL, age 73, of Selmer, TN, passed away on Aug. 13, 2005, at her residence. She was a member of Selmer First Presbyterian Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Onie and Lucille McMahan Barnes. She is survived by her husband, Joe Mitchell; two sons, Roger Mitchell and Richard Mitchell, both of Selmer; one sister, Eva Pearl Maxedon of Selmer; one brother, Coty Barnes of Selmer; six grandchildren, Dustin Mitchell, Derik Mitchell, Malea Mitchell,, Heather Dickey, Lindsey Mitchell, and Skyler Mitchell; and one gr-grandson, Joseph Lee Dickey. Services were at 11 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 16th, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Jetta Forsythe and Craig Krueger officiating. Burial followed in Bethesda Cemetery in Selmer. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ RAY SURRATT, age 76, of Adamsville, TN, passed away on Aug. 14, 2005, at his residence. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, member of the American Legion, member of Adamsville First Presbyterian Church, the Savannah Moose Lodge, and founder of Car Quest Auto Parts of Adamsville, and owner of Jettick's Corp. in Selmer, TN. Mr. Surratt was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Audrey Nichols Surratt; his wife, Mary Ellen Surratt; and one brother, Tommy Gene Surratt. He is survived by two daughters, Venita Christopher and Mitzi Surratt, both o Adamsville; thee sisters, Peggy Duncan, Johnnie Sue Lohman, and Barbara Maness, all of Adamsville; one brother Jack Surratt; and one granddaughter, Olivia Christopher. Services were at 2 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 16th, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel of Adamsville with Bro. Gary Henline officiating. Serving as pallbearers wee Gary Kerby, H. J. Maxedon, Tommy Morris, Paul Simpson, Cecil Wright, and Chuck Wright. Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery in Selmer. Memorials may be given to the American Liver Foundation, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
