Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., Dec. 8, 2004 Funeral services for LENA MAE GOODMAN, 100, of Delhi, LA were held at 2 p.m. on Sun., Nov. 28th at Lamar Baptist Church in Louisiana with Brothers, Marion Collier, Terry Ganey, and Bobby White officiating. Burial followed at Lamar Cemetery in Delhi with Cox Funeral Home of Delhi in charge of arrangements. Ms. Goodman was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Wesley Goodman; brothers, John, Edgar, Sam, and Lonnie Cheshire; sisters, Lillian Wilson, and Louella Goddard; her parents, T. R. Cheshire and Elizabeth Davidson Cheshire; two grandsons, Robert Mark Goodman and James Marvin Goodman; and two gr-grandchildren, Jill Alice Wilson, and Jody Kyle Payne. She is survived by one son, Bro,. James W. Goodman and his wife, Joanne of Delhi; four daughters, Carolyn Chisholm and her husband, William of Gulf Shores, AL, Eva Payne of Alexandra, LA, Lou Carson of Memphis, TN, and Katherine Pleasant of Delhi; three nieces, Cynthia Cheshire, Betty Cheshire Williams, and Bernice Goodman; five nephews, Billy Cheshire, Canny Cheshire, Ferry Cheshire, Jack Cheshire, and Joe Cheshire; twelve grandchildren, thirty gr-grandchildren, and twenty-eight gr-gr-grandchildren. ................ JOE TEAGUE, 73, of Ramer, TN passed away on Nov. 29, 2004 at his home. Mr. Teague was a farmer. He was a member of Ramer Baptist Church, a Democrat Committeeman, a Korean War veteran, a Charter member of the Ramer Lions Club, Past County Commissioner, and former coach for the Little League of Ramer, a member of the American Legion, and Far of the Year. Mr. Teague was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Pearl Johnson Teague, one daughter, Theresa Teague, one sister, Ann Pearson, and two brothers, Benny and Douglas Teague. He leaves behind his wife, Sue Locke Teague, three daughters, Deborah Brown of Ramer, Nancy Jones of Oakfield, TN, and Susan Allen, also of Ramer, four sisters, Brenda and Bill Hunter of Ramer, Helen and Pat Montgomery of Ramer, Loudell and Paul Townsend of Selmer, TN, and Mary and Gary Goodrum of Selmer, two brothers, J. C. and Iller Teague of Guys, TN, and Jerry and Juan Teague of Ramer, six grandchildren and one gr-grandchild. Services for Mr. Teague were held on Wed., Dec. 1st at Ramer Baptist Church with Eric Jones and Jeff Montgomery officiating. Burial followed at Ramer Cemetery in Ramer. Pallbearers were Billy Wayne Hunter, Danny Montgomery, Steve Hunter, Chris Teague, Terry Teague, and Jeff Montgomery. Honorary bearers were Zack Brown, Casey Forsythe, Justin Locke, Barry Locke, Johnny Locke, and Wayne Locke. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of all the arrangements. ................ JOSHUA CLINT FINLEY, 19, of Adamsville, TN passed away on Dec. 3, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. He was a carpenter. Mr. Finley was a 2004 graduate of Adamsville High School, a volunteer for the Leapwood Fire Department, and a former member of the Civil Air Patrol. He is survived by his parents, Dennis Dale Finley and Sheryl Lynn Carlson Finley, of Adamsville; three brothers, Joel Finley and wife, Jennifer and their daughter, Baylee Brook, Jonathan Finley and wife, Leigh, and Justin Finley, all of Adamsville; and his companion, Jennifer Lynn Boyd; a grandmother, Virginia Finley also of Adamsville. Funeral services for Mr. Finley were held at 11 a.m. on Mon. Nov. 6th at Shackelford Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Carroll and Bro. Ricky Sisk officiating. Burial followed at Mars Hill Cemetery in Adamsville. . Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of all the arrangements. ................ On Sun., Nov. 28, 2004, our beloved, WILLIE T. BAXTER, stepped across the threshold that we call death into our Father's House. Brother Baxter is at peace with God now and rejoicing in his heavenly home. He was born on Sept. 13, 1926 to the late Phillip and Stella Baxter in Ramer, TN. Willie professed a hope in Christ at an early age. Brother Baxter was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He also leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mary; his daughter, Betty Copeland of Corinth, MS; a brother, Arbie D. Baxter of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren, Joanne (Sammie) Tyes and Jimy D. (Lashonda) Copeland, both of Corinth; three gr-grandchildren, Desiree Copeland, Tetra Tyes, and Tamara Tyes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services for Mr. Baxter were held on Thur., Dec. 2nd at 1 p.m. at Wade's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Ramer with Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial followed in Ramer Cemetery in Ramer. Selmer Mortuary, 43 Falcon Road, Selmer, TN were in charge of arrangements. ................. LUTHER "RIP" SMITH, 75 passed away on Nov. 30, 2004 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was Group Leader for General Motors for 28 years. He was a member of United Auto Workers and had lived in West Palm Beach for 13 years, and Auburn Hill, MI for 30 years. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grisso Smith. He also leaves behind one daughter, Debbie Jo Shorland of Glousester, VA; two sisters, Sammie Treadway of St. Jo, IL and Molly Abernathy of West Memphis, AR; two brothers, T. B. Smith of Fort Wayne, IN and Walter G. Smith of Roscommon, MI; two grandchildren. Services for Mr. Smith were held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 3rd at Shackelford Adamsville Chapel. SALLIE MAE COLLIER CHILDERS, 80, of Ramer, TN died on Dec. 1, 2004 at her residence. She was a homemaker. Ms. Childers was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Leon Childers, her parents, Washington and Anna Frazier Collier, one daughter, Linda Childers, two sisters, Camella Jones and Chloe Lee, and one brother, Garvin Collier. She leaves behind seven daughters, Elizabeth Brown of Wylie, TX, Amy Childers, Nelda Leatherwood, both of Selmer, TN, Joyce Martin of Stantonville, TN, Leona Melton of Ramer, Mary Beth Nulls of Guys, TN, and Patricia Pruitt of Jackson, MS; one son, Terry Childers of Ramer; one sister, Annie Bell White of Nixon, TN; two brothers, Cletus Collier of Michie and J. D. Collier of Stantonville; thirteen grandchildren, and seven gr-grandchildren. Services for Ms. Childers were held at 11 a.m. on Fri., Dec. 3rd at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer with Bro. JIM ROBISON, 51, of Olive Branch, MS, died on Nov. 29, 2004 at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, FL. He was a Purchasing Manager at Premcor Refining. Mr. Robison was a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church where he taught 7th grade Sunday School class and also served as an ordained Deacon. He was a graduate from University of Memphis with a BBS in Business Administration. Mr. Robison is survived by his wife, Mitzi Vaughn Robison. He also leaves behind his parents, Harold and Frances Robison of Adamsville, TN; two sons, John Robison of Jacksonville, FL and Ryan Robison of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; two sisters, Gale Robertson of Cordova, RN and Lori Lewis of Memphis, TN; and two step grandchildren, Christopher and Caitlyn. Funeral services were held on Dec. 3rd at 1 p.m. at Adamsville First Baptist Church with Wayne Marshall officiating. Burial followed at Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville, TN. MARY ELLEN SURRATT, 70, of Adamsville, TN died on Dec. 3, 2004 at Tri-County Convalescent Home. She was co-owner and operator of Jetrick's Garment Factory. Mrs. Surratt was preceded in death by her parents, Robert McKinley and Dorothy Susan Farrell Wright. She leaves behind her husband, Ray Surratt; two daughters, Venita Christopher and Mitzi Surratt, both of Adamsville; three sisters, Nola Pulley of Memphis, Joann Burkeen of Selmer, and Sue Hughes of Adamsville; one brother, Cecil Wright of Sugar Tree, TN; on granddaughters, Olivia Christopher of Adamsville, and four nieces and three nephews. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 5th at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville with Bro. Gary Henline and Bro. Mike Kelley officiating. Burial followed at Adamsville. PHILLIP "WEINKIE" SIKES, 25, of Henderson, TN, died on Dec. 2, 2004. He was born in Shelby County, but grew up in McNairy and Chester Counties. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1998. He was married to Vikki Mosher in 1998 and they made their home near Henderson where he worked for the Forestry Department in the Maintenance Department. Mr. Sikes is survived by his wife, Vikki of Henderson; his parents, Jackie and Shirley Vandiver Sikes of Henderson; one brother, David Sikes of Jacks Creek, TN; a half sister, Angel Cummings of Jackson, TN; and his grandparents, Phillip and Dot McClain of Selmer, TN. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sun. Dec. 5th at Leon Johnson Funeral Home in Henderson. ................ JAMES MADISON CRABTREE, JR. of Gurdon, AR, formerly of McNairy County passed away on Nov. 30, 2004 at his residence. He was a retired Lineman for Ozard Border Electric Co-Op in Popular Bluff, MO and an U. S. Army Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife of 65 years. Frankie Crabtree; two sons, Steven Crabtree of Jackson, TN and John Crabtree of Higginsville, MO; one daughter, Joan Egger of Gurdon, AR; one sister, Dorothy Lockman of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren, twelve gr-grandchildren, and one very special gr-gr-grandson. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Fri. Dec. 3rd at Harts Chapel Cemetery. ................ WILLIAM H. "BILL" RICHARD, 79, of Selmer, TN passed away on Dec. 4, 2004 at West Tennessee Transitional Care. He was a retired Demolition Contractor. Mr. Richard was a member of Lorraine Baptist Church, a member of Labor Local 350, member of the Woodlawn Masonic Lodge in Memphis, and a Third Degree Mason. He also served in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Richard is survived by his wife, Jean Richard; three daughters, Tommie Kozak of Beaver Creek, OH, Kathy Fambrough of Deltona, FL, and Barbara Kay Hill of Pinson, TN; two sisters, Thelma Prather of Selmer, TN and Laura Griffin of Ramer, TN; one brothers, Dudley Richard of Ramer; and two grandchildren. Services for Mr. Richard were held at 1 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 6th at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer with Taff Neathery and Rayburn Richard officiating. Burial followed at Hope Cemetery in Selmer.
