Nancy, I'm confused on the dates, especially the birth date of Hance, you list below. I have Hance T. Emmons married Mary Rushing ca 1864. I also have in my database a J.N. Emmons who married 27 Nov 1879 Laura A Springer, b. 1861, daughter of AT Springer and Mary Ann McCoy, and Rufus Emmons who married in 1904 Perdetta Springer, born 12 Mar 1880, daughter of Jesse Comer Springer and Cora Huggins. I don't know how the Emmons are related - was J.N. Emmons a son of Hance from his first marriage? Which is really not what you want to know. I don't know a thing about Hance's first wife. Would Hance and his first wife be listed in the 1860 McNairy Census? I'm probably adding more confusion. I've enjoyed reading the weather reports.
