Randall, I've been trying to find all my Barnes information and get my head straight on the Barnes family. I'm not sure that is possible. (:>) Old Dennis Barnes was in South Carolina in 1800. He is believed to have come into TN about 1806/7. He is believed to be the father of Nancy Barnes, wife of Samuel Dancer. Nancy was b 1800 SC and is listed as Nancy Dancer in a book listing SC born persons living in 1850 along the Natchez Trace. It is not known how many times old Dennis Barnes was married but more than twice I believe. There was a son, Dennis Barnes, who lived in Tishomingo Co, MS. I found old Dennis in Tishomingo Co in 1840 I think, but I believe he went back to Benton Co, TN and died there. I'm not sure of the dates. I have not located the papers on the estate settlement of Jesse Barnes in Benton Co, TN. They are here somewhere and I will find them. I'm sorry to make you wait like this. Happy hunting! Have a very Happy New Year!
