Mitchell, listed on the 1900 McNairy County, TN census, age 63, wife Martha James M. may be the same person as J. M. Michel listed on the 1880 McNairy County census, wife Martha. James Mitchell, age 73 (above) moved to McNairy County from Marion County, AL, after 1870. Marion County census records show that he had a son name James M. Mitchell, b. about 1836/37. J. M. Mitchell, age 52 years, Caffey/Coffey, McNairy County, TN, signed an affidavit, 4 May 1887, found in the application for pension filed by Patience Hallmark Nichols, widow of Jacob L. Nichols who died from wounds received in the Civil War. Patience was a sister to James Mitchell's second wife Leanna Hallmark. Sometime after the death of Jacob Nichols, Patience married Lewis Pinkston in McNairy County, TN. Would love to hear from any one researching these folks. Jimmie .
