    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., Oct. 6, 2004 WILLIAM A. GRISSOM, 90, died on Thurs., Sept. 30, 2004 at McNairy County Regional Hospital. Mr. Grissom was a retired employee from Brown Shoe Co. and owned his own business, a World War II Army Veteran and member of Selmer First United Methodist Church. Mr. Grissom was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Bessie Kiser Grissom, his first wife, Mary Leona Bridges Grissom, a brother, Paul Grissom, and a half-brother, Willard Grissom. He is survived by his wife Mary Ruth Whitaker Jones Grissom of Selmer, two daughters, Janice Evelyn Newbill and husband Ray of Brighton, TN, and Annette Whittington and husband Jimmy of Selmer; one son, Billy A. Grissom and wife Joan of Selmer; one step-son, John Paul Jones of Selmer; one brother, Dr. Deward K. Grissom of Lexington; one half-brother, Clifton Grissom of Lexington; one half-sister, Avel Grissom of Lexington; seven grandchildren, 2 step- grandchildren, and five gr- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at Selmer First United Methodist Church with Bro. Mike Pilcher and Dr. Paul Mullikin officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer. Memorials may be made to the selmer first United Methodist Church. ........................................ GAILYA PUSSER DAVIS, 70, of Collierville, died on Mon., Sept. 27, 2004 at her home in Byhalia, MS. The wife of William H. "Bill" Davis, who survives. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and worked part time at the family business, Davis Grading Co., in Collierville. She was born on Dec. 2, 1933 in Finger, TN, daughter of the late Carl and Helen Harris Pusser. She had made her home in the Byhalia/Collierville area for over 30 years and was a Baptist in belief. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Sept. 30th at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar Chapel with Dennis Callahan and David Cooper officiating. Burial was in West Memorial Baptist Cemetery in Saulsbury. In addition to her husband, whom she married Feb. 11, 1965, survivors include one son and his wife, William H. "Little Bill" and Patricia Davis and one granddaughter, Emily Lynn Davis, all of Collierville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Howard and Buford Hayes Pusser. The family requests that memorials be directed to West Memorial Baptist Church. ................................................... JOEL MANUEL JOHNSON, 31, died on Mon., Sept. 27, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Johnson was an authorized contractor/technician at Jackson Energy Authority and member of Faith Miniseries in Augusta, GA. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Kay Bunch Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mitchell Johnson of Jackson, TN, two daughters, Amber Louise Johnson and Amanda Brooke Johnson both of Bethel Springs, father, Doyle M. Johnson of Adamsville, grandfather, Cecil R. Bunch of Benton Harbor, MI, and one sister, Regina Dunaway of Selmer. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 2nd at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Selmer. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery in McKenzie, TN. .................................................. WILLIAM KENNY WHITAKER was born on Sept. 29, 2004 in Stantonville, TN and passed away on Oct. 1, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his mother Louella Whitaker Kirkpatrick, father John Herman Whitaker and brother Gene Whitaker. He is survived by his wife Betty of Selmer, three sons John of Blytheville, AR, Terry of St. Louis, MO, and Bill of Stuart, FL, seven grandchildren, two brothers Robert Whitaker of Selmer and John Whitaker of St. Louis, MO, and three sisters Louise Singleton and Peggy Smith both of St. Louis, MO, and June Cope of St. Peters, MO. Mr. Whitaker was a retired truck driver from Consolidated Freight Ways. .................................................. RUBY HOOVER MCDANIEL , 94, formally of McNairy County, TN, died on Tues., Sept. 28, 2004 at Country Cottage Assisted Living in Corinth, MS. Mrs. McDaniel, a long time resident of Corinth, member of the First Baptist Church and the Good News Sunday School class. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her husband Russell M. McDaniel and her daughter Shirley M. Davis. She is survived by one son-in-law George R. Davis, Sr. Of Huntsville, AL, one grandson George R. Davis, Jr. And wife Stephanie of Huntsville, and four gr-grandsons. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wed. Sept. 29th at McPeters Chapel with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial followed at the Henry Memorial Garden in Corinth, MS. HOSTETLER, 42, died on Mon., Sept. 27, 2004 at Jackson General Hospital. Ms. Hostetler had been disabled all her life. She was born in Wayne County, OH. She attended a handicap school for a few years and made her home with her mother all her life. Ms. Hostetler is survived by her parents Emanuel Y. Hostetler of Henderson, Kattie J. Shetler Hostetler of Finger, six brothers, Daniel Hostetler of Finger, Yost Hostetler of Finger, Nathan Hostetler of Wooster, OH, Ruben Hostetler of Bethel Springs, Matthew Hostetler of Finger, Tim Hostetler of Apple Creek, OH, three sisters Martha Heathcock of Finger, Viola Mitchell of Finger, Ella Beachy of Finger, and 22 nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thurs., Sept. 30th at Finger Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Simon Mast officiating. Burial followed at the church's cemetery. .................................................. GARY LEE PRINCE, 48, died on Tues., Sept. 28, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN. Mr. Prince was a truck mechanic and a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Prince was preceded in death by his father Daniel Boone Prince, one brother Daniel Alan Prince, one aunt Cleo Cooper and grandparents. He is survived by his mother Laura Jane Preece Prince of Selmer, aunts Faye Hanshaw of Louisa, KY Dorothy Spillman of Columbus, OH, and Nellie Taylor of Calcutta, OH, and one uncle John Prince of Lockbourn, OH. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Sun., Oct. 3rd at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa, KY.
