She was a member of Adamsville First United Methodist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, General Hence and Rachel Robnett Thrasher; her husband, James David Smith; a granddaughter, Angela Perkins; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a son, Dwight L. Perkins and wife Elizabeth of Memphis; a daughter, Norma Littlefield and husband Jerry of Louisville, KY; a brother, J. C. Thrasher of Savannah; and two sisters, Vilda Phillips of Dickson and Rheba Bradley of Adamsville. She had three grandchildren and eleven gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sat., Apr. 17th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Adamsville, with Bro. Steve Callicoatt officiating. Burial followed at Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville. Mrs. McCann was retired from Brown Shoe Company after 32 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Garner and Margaret Hill Garner; and her husband, W. G. McCann. She is survived by a son, Glenn McCann of Selmer; and two sisters, Annie Bell Henson of Selmer and Verbel King of Benton, KY. She had two grandchildren and one gr-grandchild. HENRY MELVIN SLEDD of McNairy County, formerly of Millington, 86, died Apr. 17, 2004 at McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer. Mr. Sledd was a retired Greyhound Bus Driver. He was a Medic in the U.S. Army and won a Bronze Star Medal in World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Michie and a former member of First Baptist Church in Millington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Sledd. He is survived by three sons, Fred Sledd of Marietta, GA, Dennis Sledd of Evansville and Joey Sledd of Michie; a sister, Nona Mae Duncan of Hardinsburg, KY; and two brothers, Van Sledd of North Carolina and Maxwell Sledd of Florida. He had seven grandchildren and three gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wed., Apr. 21st at Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Milford. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Milford of Savannah; a brother, Wayne Milford and wife Linda of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Donna Bingham and husband Charles of Stantonville; and a sister-in-law, Betty Milford of Stantonville. She is survived by two sons, James Robert Patrick of Bartlett and William Allen Patrick of Ramer; and a sister, Frances Branstetter of Selmer. She had four grandchildren, and four gr- grandchildren. Daddy), of Saltillo, 67, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on Feb. 18, 1937. He did many things in his life, but always returned to truck driving, an occupation he loved. On Apr. 4, 2004 he delivered his last load in Kansas City, MO. He quietly went to Heaven in his sleep. Willy will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, William D. Staton (Bill). He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roy T. Baker, Jr. (birth name Mikel Ewan Staton) of Saltillo and Lia Poteet; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherill and Donald Martens of Wichita, KA; and two sisters, Gereldene Russell and Laura Virginia Russell, both of Laurel, MS.
