Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., Apr. 7, 2004 EDDIE ASHE of Michie, 52, died Mar. 28, 2004 in McNairy Regional Hospital in Selmer, following a horseback riding accident. Mr. Ashe was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church, the McNairy County Equine Association, and the McNairy County Cattleman's Association. He was a Farm Bureau Board Member and served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Howard and Mable Eaves Ashe. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Williams Ashe; three daughters, Monica Ashe, Valerie Ashe and Emily Ashe, all of Michie; a sister, Teresa McAfee of Michie; two brothers, Mike Ashe of Michie and Keith Ashe of Fairbanks, AK; and a son-in-law, Deon Taylor of Michie. He had two grandchildren, Ashton Rich and Victoria Taylor, both of Michie. Services were held at 3 p.m. on Wed., Mar. 31st at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Paul Millikin, Craig Kreuger and Robert Jetton officiating. Burial followed at Lebanon Cemetery in Michie. Memorials may be sent to Lebanon United Methodist Church. ............. ALMA PEARL FOWLER GRAY of Michie, 83, died Mar. 29, 2004 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laney and Mary Ellen Moore Fowler; her husband, Ethel Gray; a son, Larry Gray; three brothers, L. G. Oliver and Otis Fowler; and three step-brothers, Alton, Jimmy and Kenny Lambert. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Wilson of Ramer; two brothers, Thomas Fowler and Truman Fowler, both of Michie; and five sisters, Eula Thacker, Madie Thacker and Nega Lipford, all of Michie, Faye Massengill of Corinth, MS and Shirley Walker of Meridian, MS. She had three grandchildren, Anthony Wilson of Unionville, MO, Teresa Hodge of Yorkville, and Ray Wilson of Adamsville; and eight gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Wed., Mar. 31st at Liberty Church of Christ, with ministers Malcom George, Tim Carothers, and Ray Wilson officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery in Michie. Arrangements were made by Shackelford Funeral Home Directors of Selmer, Inc. ............. HERLEN WARREN of Corinth, MS, 80, died Fri., Apr. 2, 2004 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. Mr. Warren was retired from Wilson Dam, and was Corinth's first black policeman. He was a member of St. Rest M. B. Church. He was a member of James A. Long American Legion Post #207. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlanda and Nannie Warren; four brothers, four sisters, and a close friend, Raymond Dyer. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Warren of Corinth, MS; three daughters, Anita Wallace, and husband Quintorius of Corinth, MS, Patricia Chapman and husband Michael of Houston, TX, and Velvet Smith of Rockford, IL; and a sister, Helen Warren of Michie. He also had three grandchildren, four gr-grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, eight nieces, eight nephews, and a very special friend, Clyde Nance. Services were held at 12 noon on Wed., Apr. 7th at Macedonia M. B. Church, with the Rev. W. D. Ratliff officiating. Burial is in Corinth National Cemetery. Grayson's Funeral Services are in charge of arrangements. ............. CHESTER SKELTON, SR. of Stantonville, 73, died Mar. 31, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Skelton was a truck driver. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Lee and Lilly Bell Rigsby Skelton. He is survived by his wife, Norma Gean King Skelton - they were married on Nov. 24, 1978; four son, Jonathan Burke Skelton of Murfreesboro, AL Papadakis of Bethel Springs, Brandon Chip Skelton of Stantonville and Chester Skelton, Jr. and wife Jannie of Pine Mountain, GA; four daughters, Margaret Ann Hill and Alice Faye Morris, both of Selmer, Betty Carol Kiestler of Bolivar and Shirley Jean Markle and husband Albert of Somerville; and a sister, Estelle Skelton of Ashland, MS. He had nine grandchildren, David Morris, Jason Morris, Misty West, Deanna Thompson, Robin Fowler, Scott Folwer, Larry Glover, Brian Hill and Bradley Skelton; and ten gr-grandchildren, Jake Morris, Paige Morris, Megan West, Kaitlyn West, Ashley Markle, Aspen Atkins, Jaycee Fowler, Cody Fowler, Larry Glover, Jr. and Rebecca Glover. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Fri., Apr. 2nd at Lakeview Baptist Church, with Minister Ray Burks officiating. Burial followed at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs. PAULINE ASHE MCDANIEL of Stantonville, 76, died Mar. 29, 2004 at West Tennessee Transitional Care Center. Mrs. McDaniel was retired from the Housekeeping Department at McNairy County General Hospital. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Duncan Ashe; her mother, Vera Channell Ashe; and a brother, Preston Ashe. She is survived by her husband, Troy V. McDaniel, Sr.; two sons, Troy V. McDaniel, Jr. of Bethel Springs and Paul R. McDaniel of Lexington; three daughters, Alice F. Whitley and Barbara R. Brown, both of Selmer, and Pamela M. Harris of Stantonville; a brother, Herbert Ashe of Selmer; and a sister, Francine Russell. She had ten grandchildren and eight gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wed., Mar. 31st at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, with Ministers, Thomas Davis, W. D. McCollum, and Darrell Moffett officiating. Mrs. Wardlow was a retired garment factory seamstress. She was a member of the Ramer Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert McKinley Smith and Lettie Burks Smith; and her husband, James K. Wardlow. She is survived by a son, Bobby Wardlow and wife Edith of Ramer; two daughters, Kaye Churchwell and husband Danny, and Pat McMahan and husband Douglas, all of Ramer; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hamm of Ramer and Loudene Wray of Payneway, AR. She and six grandchildren and six gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sun., Apr. 4th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, with Charles Hall and Van McMahan officiating.
