    3. APPEARED in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Weds. July 19, 2000 JAMES REID HOUSTON, 72, died on July 11, 2000, at Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth, Miss, due to heart failure. Mr. Houston was a retired machine operator for World Color Painting, Inc. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Michie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Mentie Dickerson Houston. He is survived by his wife, Emma Houston, one daughter, Cindy Reeves, on son, Rickey Houston, one sister, Shirley Stovall and two grandchildren, Dylan and Bethany Reeves. Services were held at 3 p.m. on Wed., at Shackelford Funeral Home and burial followed at the Liberty Cemetery in Michie. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. DIXIE LEE HOLT, 91, of Selmer, died on July 11, 2000, at Methodist Healthcare McNairy Center in Selmer due to heart failure. Mrs. Holt was a retired Elementary School Teacher for McNairy County, who had taught 35 years. She was a member of First Baptist church in Selmer, the Retired Teachers association, and the McNairy County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a Volunteer at McConnico Library. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Holt, one brother, James Lipford, and her parents, Charlie and Cilia younger Lipford. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ruth Mills of Michie and Linda Stewart of Oxford, Miss., one son, Ernest Ray Holt of Collierville, two sister, Bessie Carroll of Stantonville and Louise Carroll of Adamsville, eight grandchildren, and sixteen gr-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at Shackelford Funeral Home on Thurs., at 11 a.m. Burial followed at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel. JESSIE AGTHA MEDFORD, 93, died on July 14, 2000, at Chester county Healthcare in Henderson due to heart failure. Mrs. Medford was a retired registered nurse and a member of Buntyn Presbyterian church in Memphis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Medford. She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Hardin of Somerville, five grandchildren, five gr-grandchildren and two gr-gr-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tues., at Shackelford Funeral Home. Mr. Hayre was born and reared in Finger, son of the late William and Alma Weaver Hayre. He attended schools in Finger and graduated from Bethel Spring High School in 1939. He entered the Army and served in the Army Air Force during WWII and was discharged in 1945. He was married to Stela Lynch of Montezuma. He was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Selmer and later retired from Rockwell Manufacturing in Jackson in 19798. He is survived by one daughter, Betty Evans of Finger, one brother, Bill Hayre of Memphis, one sister, Netha young, and One grandson, Jonathan Shane Evans of finger. Funeral services were held at Casey Funeral Home. Burial followed t finger Cemetery with Dr. B.J. Mrs. Lucus was an employed as an Area Representative Open Door Student Exchange and Homemaker. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Selmer. She is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mamie Bell Lehew and one sister, Quanita Warren. She is survived by her husband, Edward John Lucas, Sr. of Corinth, Miss., two daughters, Anecia Renee Holt of Memphis and Kevie Kate Bell Lucas of Corinth Miss., three sons, Edward John Lucas, Jr. of Sylvester. Val, Daniel Joseph Lucas of Middleton, and Jeremy Edward Holt of Benton, Several hundred international students from all around the world affiliated with the Open Door Student Exchange, one brother, Don Lehew of Tullahoma, and three grandchildren, Melana, Dana, and Dusty. Funeral services were held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Selmer, and at Memorial Mass Trinity Lutheran Church in Tullahoma. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tullahoma.
