She was a retired teacher at Bethel Springs Elementary School, homemaker, member of 4th Street Church of Christ, former member of McNairy County Election Commission, and taught school for 36 years. Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Tues., at Shackelford Chapel in Selmer. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer with Randy Mead officiating. Mrs. Frey was the daughter of the late Bill and Mary Susan Russell Smith. She is survived by five sister, Mildred Boyd of Tupelo, MS, Nancy Seratt and Georgie Lafton of Jackson, TN, Ruby Pearl Hickman and Billy Smith of Selmer; two grandchildren, John Robert Frey and Lorie Ann Seaton; and two gr-grandchildren, Felicia Ann Plunk and Cody Wayne Seaton. She attended schools of McNairy County and was married to Horace Lee Brooks, inn 1938. They made their home in McNairy County where Mr. Brooks farmed. They lived in Memphis several years and they returned to Finger Mr. brooks died in 1978. Services were held at Casey Chapel on Sat., May 20 at 1 p.m. Interment was at Rocky Knob Cemetery with Bro. Everett Huffard officiating. She was preceded in death by one sister, Etness Massengill.
