Appeared in the Independent Appeal newspaper Wednesday, June 30, 1999 ERA ALVA BROOKS WHITMAN, born in the Phillips, Hickory Corner Community, Nov. 27, 1915, went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 22, 1999. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend by many. Her proudest accomplishments include her four children, Homer Whitman wife Arbie, Frank Whitman wife Ann, Lonnie Whitman wife Peggy, Sandra Whitman Bass husband Leon, nine grandchildren and thirteen gr-grandchildren and a host of foster children including Brenda Scott and Kay Kiddy who have been with her for many years. She was the wife of Roby Odell Whitman who passed on the Heaven in 1989. She is also survived by one brother Clyde Jones of Michigan. Her funeral was held on Thurs., June 24, at 2 p.m. at the Casey Funeral home chapel with burial in Chester County Memory Gardens. >>>>>>>>>>>> LOIS McGEE McCANN, 73, of Paducah died at 530 a.m. Wednesday at her home. Mrs. McCann, a native of Knox City, Texas, was retired from Martin Marietta. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She is survived by one son, Doug McCann of Paducah; two sisters, Doris Robinson of Memphis and Joyce brooks of Selmer; four brothers, Everett McGee of Huntsville, Ala., John Ernest McGee of Madison, Ala., Bennie McGee of Alamo, and Herbet McGee of Selma, Ala., and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hugh "A.H." McCann, one sister, and two brothers. Her parents were Carl and Blanche Taylor McGee. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The Rev. Henry Wieder will officiate, with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah after 5 p.m. Friday, where prayers will be said at 7. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Thomas More Catholic Church Building Fund, 209 Wallace Lane, Paducah, KY 42001. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. CLARA D. KEMP, 85, died on Thurs., June 24, 1999, at Hardin County Hospital of heart failure. She was a homemaker and attended Cordova Baptist Church. Service took place at 1 p.m. on Sat., June 26, at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville. Burial was held at Bethleham Cemetery near Adamsville. Officiating the services was Frank Kemper. Mrs. Kemp was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Kemp and her parents, Marshall and Lula Pyron Walker.
