Sharon, The Civil War was going on -- have you checked to see if John Tidwell was in the war and perhaps didn't make it home? His wife probably stayed with relatives and may have applied for a pension at some later date and remarried, especially if she had a child, making her 'invisible' by the 1870 Census. Look for her family in the 1860 & 1870 Census and see where they were living (parents, married sisters, etc.), as well as John's family. I have searched for several years trying to find the following couple and I cannot find them anywhere. They married in McNairy Co, TN, in 1862: P.97 John F. TidwelL and Mary J. Blasingame applied 6 January 1862, Solemnized 9 January 1862 by William Patterson. I have found John in the 1860 census prior to his marriage but I can't find him in later years and I cannot find Mary before or after their marriage. Does anyone have any clues about what may have happened to this couple after their marriage? Thanks!
