Ginger, Thanks for your search -- it was actually Sandra (sorry, I said Sharon in my email!) who was looking for information on John Tidwell -- I only suggested he may well have been in the war. Sandra -- There are a number of John or J. Tidwells listed in the Confederate records on the site Ginger provided for regiments from Tennessee, as well. Many McNairy Co. men went into the Confederate army with men from Hardin Co., ending up in the 34th Tennessee Infantry (Co. B). I notice there was a 34th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry, which fought with the 34th Tennessee -- also a possibility with McNairy Co. on the border with Mississippi. Also noticed there's a case of a "Tidwell" that may have been mistakenly recorded as "Kidwell" so worth looking for "Kidwell" at the same time while you're searching.
