    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., May 26, 2004 LESLIE T. HUNT of Stantonville, 86, died on May 16, 2004 at Sand Point Senior Living Center in Titusville, FL. Mr. Hunt lived in Titusville, for the last two years. Prior to that, he lived in McNairy County for most of his life. He and Adrian had been married for sixty years at the time of her death on Apr. 6, 2000. Mr. Hunt had worked for General Electric Company. He is survived by a son, Charles R. Hunt (wife, Gloria) of Titusville; a sister, Dean Myers of Puxico, MO; a brother, L. C. Hunt of Chicago; six grandchildren, Connie Dolecheck of Arlington, TX, Margaret Layfield of Murphy, TX, Charles (Chad) Hunt, Jr. of Titusville, Amanda Isham of Columbia, SC, Mecca Hunt of Richmond, VA and Eric Jackson of Knoxville, TN; and five gr-grandchildren, Cameren, Mackenzie, Riley, Adrian, and Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed., May 26th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Max Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs. ........... ARTIE MAE RUSSOM of Adamsville, 78, died on May 23, 2004 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Ms. Russom was a homemaker. She was a member of Meeks Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She had worked as a sitter with the elderly. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. D. Humphries and Ethel Sisk Humphries; a son, James Russom and a grandson, B. J. Russom. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Kindrick of Savannah; a son, Bobby J. Russom of Memphis; a sister, Nell Basham of Selmer; two brothers, Freeman Humphries of Adamsville and Floyd Humphries of Royal Oak, MI; two grandchildren, Brent Russom and Lisa Locke; and three gr-grandchildren, Josh Russom, Jacob Russom, and Blake Locke. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tues., May 25th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Selmer. Burial will follow at Vinson Cemetery in Stantonville. ........... ANNIE LOUISE WILLIAMS of Selmer, 77, died on May 17, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Mrs. Williams was a retired Pharmacist Assistant from McNairy Regional Hospital and a member of the Curtis Hill Church of God of Prophecy. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Williams and infant son, James Mickey Williams. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Willie Hickman of Bethel Springs. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wed., May 19th at Curtis Hill Church of God of Prophecy. Burial followed at the Curtis Hill Cemetery in Bethel Springs. ........... VENICE MAY HURST of Bethel Springs, 85, died on May 18, 2004 at the Tri-County Convalescent Home. Mrs. Hurst was a homemaker. She was also of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Finley Hurst and Eufie Russom Hurst; her husband, Loyce Hurst; and a son, Howard Lee Hurst. She is survived by two daughters, Wanda McNeil of Bethel Springs and Hazel Teague of Ramer; five sons, Harold Hurst of Selmer, Douglas Hurst, Eugene Hurst both of Bethel Springs, Jerry Hurst of Enville, and Alva Dee Hurst of Adamsville; a sister, Mazel Riley of Bethel Springs; and a brother, Elmer Hurst of Corinth. She also had twenty grandchildren, and twenty-five gr-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thurs., May 20th at the Shackelford Chapel. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in McNairy. ........... MARY CHARLENE CROW of Selmer, 89, died on May 18, 2004 at McNairy County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Crow was a retired school teacher under the Shelby County Board of Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her patents, James P. and Lillie Cleo Davis Wright; her husband, Lester W. Crow; three brothers, Hal Wright, Billy M. Wright, and J. P. Wright; and one sister, Ruby Lee Wright. She is survived by a son, Lynn Davis of Selmer; a sister, Annie Ree Gray of Burnsville, MI; a sister-in-law, Colene Wright of Selmer; and a brother, L. C. Wright and wife Marie of Booneville, Miss. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., May 20th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services and burial were held at 3 p.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. ........... OLA DEAN KLYCE, age 96, died May 16, 2004 at Crockett County Nursing Home. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on May 18, 2004 at Cairo Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Fred Klyce and son-in-law Edward Exum. She is survived by two sons, Harlin (Ruth) Klyce of Rockwood and Newl (Demetra) Klyce of Alamo; four daughter, Betty Exum of Clarbsdale, Miss, Juanice (William R.) Pitner of Cordova, Marilyn (Ralph) Webb of Chewalla, and Donna Ann (Charles) of Ramer. Grandchildren are John Webb, Jacob Webb, Chris Robinson, Libby Whitten, Ed Exum, Steven Klyce, Robert Klyce, Kenneth Klyce, Janet Treadway, Richard George, Gay Lynn Bell, Jean Pitner, and Troy Klyce. There are nineteen gr-grandchildren. One, China Webb Dalton, is local. She also had one gr-gr-grandchild, Jordan Koch. ........... ERNEST H. "ROOSTER" ROBINSON of Shiloh, 73, died on May 23, 2004 at Tri-County Convalescent Home. Mr. Robinson was a retired Timber Cutter and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oles Odell and Gladys Russom Robinson, a brother, James McMellan Robinson and a sister Judy Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Licie Perry Robinson; three daughters, Lisa Coulter of Shiloh, Sue Phillips of Selmer, and Angela Watkins of Saulsbury; two sons, Bobby Robinson and Paul Robinson; two sisters, Bell Johnson of Bethel Springs and Carlene Roberts of Beech Bluff; nine grandchildren, Michael Robinson, Tiffanie Stone, Ginger Phillips, Jeremy Robinson, Heather Robinson, Carrie Coulter, Aaron Watkins, Karra Watkins and Noah Watkins; and two gr-grandchildren. Nicki Robinson and Brock Stone. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tues., May 25th at Shackelford Chapel with Rev. Ray Burks officiating. Burial followed at Buena Vista Cemetery in Bethel Springs. ........... JIMMIE L. STUTTS of Michie, 72, died on May 22, 2004 at Alcorn Rehab & Health Center in Corinth. Mr. Stutts was a U. S. Merchant Marine Officer, a member of Teamster's Union, and a U. S. Army Veteran. He was an avid fisherman, and he loved hunting, the outdoors, bluegrass music and western movies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Mable Bryant Stutts; and two sisters, Edna Bowan and Dorothy Brady. He is survived by an aunt and uncle, Mary Lou and T. D. Bryant; another aunt, Francis Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sun., May 23rd at Shackelford Funeral Home's Acton Chapel with Rev. Merl Dixon officiating. Burial followed at Carter Cemetery in Michie. ........... HARMON H. CLARK of Bolivar, 82, died on May 20, 2004 at Bolivar General Hospital. Mr. Clark lived in Arkansas where he farmed for approximately forty years before moving to Bolivar. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army Veteran of World War II having served in the 3rd Army in the European Theater. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Clark and Susie Doles Clark; his wife, Lizzie Foster Clark; a sister, Ruby Kirk; and two brothers, William C. Clark and Travis Clark. He is survived by two sisters, Laner Doles of Pocahontas and Isabell Jones of Bolivar. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sat., May 22nd at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Frank Bell officiating. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Cemetery near Pocahontas. ........... CLARENCE "JACK" PICKENS of Adamsville, 90, died on May 21, 2004 at Tri-County Convalescent Home in Adamsville. Mr. Pickens was a Machinist and Bus Driver for forty-six years for Hardin County. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was also a member of V.F.W. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hughes Pickens of Adamsville; a daughter, Cheryl Gibbs of Adamsville; two sons, Lanny Newman of Adamsville and Kim Pickens of Savannah; a sister, Ora Young of Savannah; and a brother, Andy Pete Pickens of Savannah. Mr. Pickens also had six grandchildren and three gr-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sun., May 23rd at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah. Burial followed at Milledgeville Cemetery in Milledgeville. ........... JERRY NEWTON "POLAR BEAR" RUSSELL of Bethel Springs, formerly from Phoenix, AZ, born in Gatesville, TX, died May 21, 2004 at Chester County Nursing Home. Mr. Russell was employed with East West Motor Freight in Selmer. He was known as "Polar Bear". He also played as a line backer in the 1960's with the San Francisco 49ers. He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Hickman and one granddaughter, Brianna Lynn Hickman. He has one adopted son, David Michael Russell in Phoenix,. AZ. Mr. Russell was of the Baptist faith. A memorial will be held in his name in Arizona at a later time after his cremation. ........... Have a nice day! Barbara
