    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., May 19, 2004 STANLEY IKE PLUNK, a truck driver of Selmer, 48, died on May 10, 2004 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Atlas Plunk and Alice Roberta Plunk. He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Lee Plunk and Garrey Travis Plunk, both of Bethel Springs; a sister Shelia Henry of Bethel Springs; and two brothers, Garrey T. Plunk of Finger and James Roger Plunk of Bethel Springs. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., May 13th at the Shackelford Chapel. Burial followed at Rocky Knob Cemetery in Finger. ............ MINNIE ATHALEE "LEE" GOODRUM GLOVER of Nahunta, GA, formerly of McNairy County, 78, died on May 5, 2004 in Nahunta, GA. Miss Glover was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel E. Goodrum and Minnie Kirk Goodrum; and all of her brothers and sisters, Verda Barnes, Earl Goodrum, John D. Goodrum, Onie Goodrum, Ray Goodrum, and Frances Messer. She is survived by her husband, Irvin C. "Bubba" Glover; a daughter, Lawana Lee and husband Robert of Nahunta, GA; a son, Sam Nathaniel Latham and wife Pe'a of Ft. McIntosh, GA; four grandchildren, Shauna Cee Athalee Wildes and husband Alec; Rachael Christina Lee and husband Jason, Megan Lee Jones and husband Stacey, and Jason Nathaniel Latham; and two gr-grandchildren, Hannah Rae Wildes and Haley Elizabeth Wildes Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Wed., May 12th at Oak Hill Cemetery. ............ ELDON H. MORGAN of Michie, 77, died on May 14, 2004 at his residence. He was born on Feb. 15, 1927 to John Roland and Lula Knight Morgan in Acton. He was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ and a World War II veteran where he was awarded an Army Occupation Medal and the Victory Medal. He was in the 349th Infantry Regiment. He was preceded in death by his parents, three half-brothers; Vernon Clark, Roy Clark, and Tommy Morgan; three half-sisters, Ruby Curtis, Jewell Curtis, and Lela Phelps; one niece, Barbara Morgan; and one nephew, Eddie Sellers. He is survived by a brother, John R. Morgan of Acton; two sisters, Ellie Mae Jones of Corinth and Beatrice Sellers of Labanon, OH; and nieces and nephews, J. R. Morgan and Brenda Morgan of Acton, Joyce James of Counce, Betty Geer, Kathy McCalister, and Lonnie Jones of Corinth, Jerri Kliesch of Labanon, OH, and David Jones of Elkmont, AL and a host of step-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sun., May 16th at the Corinthian Chapel with Minister Ralph Lambert officiating. Burial followed at Coln Cemetery in Acton. ............ LEMMIE OTHELLA KING of Selmer, 80, died on May 10, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Mrs. King was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Springs Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Brown and Maudie Bell Buchannan Brown; her husband, Virgil Carl King; and two sons, James King and Larry King. She is survived by five daughters, Betty King of Selmer, Lola Boyle of South Bend, IN, Nancy Jackson of Lexington, Linda Miller and Judy Brigman both of Bethel Springs; three sons, Thomas King of South Bend, IN, Junior Edward King of Selmer, and Ricky Lynn King of Bethel Springs; and a sister, Gertie Mae Hopkins of Selmer. She also had twenty grandchildren and fourteen gr-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wed., May 12th at the Shackelford Chapel, with Jeff Young officiating. Burial followed at Falcon Cemetery in Selmer. ............ VIRGIL I. GRAY of Shiloh, 85, died on May 10, 2004 at the Tri-County Convalescent Home. Mr. Gray was a farmer and of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Issac Gray and Jean McDuffy Gray and a son, Billy Wayne Gray. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Gray; a daughter, Gladys Summers and husband Ronald of Ramer; a son, Donnie Gray of Memphis; and two sisters, Jewell Davis of Shiloh and Dovie McGregory of Memphis. Mr. Gary also had five grandchildren and ten gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., May 13th at the Lebanon United Methodist Church with Robert Jetton officiating. Burial followed at Lebanon Cemetery in Michie. ............ MARJORIE GOOCH of Selmer, 83, died on May 16, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Miss Gooch was a retired legal secretary and a member of Lindenwood Christian Church in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Osmond H. and Vonnie Hamm Beck and her husband, Coy Gooch. She is survived by a daughter, Janie Tanner of Selmer; a sister, Dorothy Suggs of Memphis; a brother, Bob Beck of Selmer, and two grandchildren, Mandy Tanner and Dusty Tanner. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wed., May 19th at the Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with Robert Jetton officiating. Burial will followed at Guys Cemetery in Guys. Memorial contributions can be made to the America Cancer Society. ............ Funeral services for DR. ELMO COX, 78, of Leland, MI were held on Mon., May 10th at the Leland United Methodist Church in Leland, MI and burial was in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery in Stoneville, MI under the direction of Boone Funeral Home of Leland, MI. Dr. Cox was a retired dentist, and passed away on May 7, 2004 at the Monteford memorial Hospital in Kosciusko, MI He was raised in Stantonville and graduated from Selmer High School. He also graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin Memphis State University and the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis. He began his dental practice in Leland, MI in 1954 and retied in 1991. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was also a life member of ADA and MDA, a member of the Greenville Leland Dental Society, a former member of the Leland Lion Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge #4090 and a member of the Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity. Dr. Cox was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Montgomery Highland Hunting Club and the Ponderosa Hunting Club. He was also a member of the Leland United Methodist Church in Leland, MI. Dr. Cox was preceded in death by his mother, Luna Wyatt Cox, who passed away when he was 2 years old, his father and stepmother, Cecil and May Dell Cox and a half-brother, Jerry Donald Cox. Survivors include his wide, Joy Robinson Cox of Leland, MI (formerly of Bethel Springs); two sons, Kim (Libbi Cox of Greenville, MI, and Larry (Donna) Cox of Horn Lake, MI; a sister, Elois Cox Case; a half-brother, Trerrel (Kay) Cox all of Bethel Springs; six grandchildren, Leah and Scott Cox of Leland, MI, Ann Reagan Cox of Greenville, MI and Chris, Kirby, and Kyle Cox of Horn Lake, MI; three gr-grandchildren, John, Carter and Campbell Cox; and cousin, Jo Ann Cox (Ted) Stephenson of Lawton. Dr. Cox was loved by everyone. His favorite past time was spending time with his sons and grandsons hunting and fishing. He taught many a young person how to hunt and fish during his lifetime. He was a loving family man and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. ............ JAMIE WEATHERBEE of Rienze, MI, 16, died on Fri., May 7, 2004 in an automobile accident in Booneville. His friend, Adam Pollard, was also killed. Jamie was a sophomore at Thiasher High School. He was also of the Baptist faith. Services were held at 3 p.m. on Mon., May 10th at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charlie Cooper and Bro. Warren Jones officiating. Burial followed at Dogwood Cemetery in Corinth. He is survived by his parents, Julie Weatherbee and Wesley Weatherbee; a brother, John Weatherbee; his grandparents, Billy and Donna Sue Hively of Corinth, Cecil and Jackie Weatherbee of Rienze; and a gr-grandmother, Beatrice Overton of Corinth. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Paul Moore; his gr-grandparents, Rev. James H and Pauline Moore "Family of McNairy County," Jamie Barker, Alma and John Weatherbee and Lawrence and Lena Ford. ............ J. D. JONES of Beech Grove, 74, died on Mon., May 10, 2004 at Harton Regional Medical Center. Mr. Jones was served as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for thirty years and also held a Law Degree. He was a longtime member of the Curlee Church of Christ and in recent years, attended Noah Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma "Nanny" Rosalee Jones, his living wife of fifty years, Margaret Rebecca "Becky" Jones, who passed away, Apr. 21, 2001 and also a brother, Dick Carter. He is survived by three children, Dixie (Richard) Broyles of Madison, MI, Casey (Andrea) Jones of Rome, GA, Donna (Richard) Ritchie of Schaumburg, IL; three brothers, Pete (Frieda) Carter of Oscola, AR, Jime (Sue) Carter of Elkhart IN: a sister Kitty (Charles) Beavers of Memphis; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Carter of Earle, AR; and two cousins, Arminta Leatherwood and Hubert Lee Jones both of Ramer. He also had five grandchildren and eight gr-grandchildren Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Fri., May 14th at Manchester Funeral Home with Bro. Horace Lee Jacobs officiating.
