    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper, Wed., Mar. 23, 2005 MARTHA PAULINE GRAY, 81, of Memphis, TN, passed away on March 14, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Selmer, TN and a homemaker. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her parents, Bill & Jessie Spain Barksdale and her husband, Jesse Mac Gray. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Porch of Collierville, TN, and Melissa A. Stockstill of Eads, TN; two sons, Jesse M. Gray, Jr. of Kingwood, TX, and William J. Gray of River Ridge, LA; Nine grandchildren and three gr-grandchildren. Graveside services were Wed., March 16th, at 1 p.m. in Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs with Max Walker officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. .......... WELTON MILFORD, 80, of Bethel Springs, TN, passed away on Mar. 16, 2005, at Jackson Regional Hospital. He was a sawmill laborer and a Veteran of the United Stated Army during World War II. Mr. Milford was preceded in death by his parents, Bob & Jewell Patterson Milford. He is survived by three sisters, Faye Owen of Eads, TN, Mary Ruth Pickett of Oakland, TN, and Vickie Whitaker of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Jim Milford of Memphis, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Services were on Fri., Mar. 18th, at 11 a.m. at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Milford officiating. Burial followed in Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. .......... BOBBIE CHRISTINE MARTIN, 72, of Adamsville, TN, passed away on Mar. 17, 2005, at Tri-County Convalescent Home. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Maude Emma Hamm. She is survived by three sons, David Martin of Henderson, TN, John Robert Martin of Adamsville, and Mark Anthony Martin of Saxey, TX; one sister, Thelma Howell of Owensboro, KY; five grandchildren and one gr-grandchild. Services were on Sun., Mar. 20th, at 3 p.m. at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pine Hill Memorial Gardens in Adamsville. BEULAH MAE ROBINSON, 91, of Selmer, TN, passed away on Mar. 18, 2005, at McNairy County Health Care Center. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents, John and Addie Mae Rowland; her husband, Otis Virgil Robinson; and one son, Doyle Gean Lambert. She is survived by four daughters, Mildred Corrine Hall of East Peoria, IL, Dottie Faye Kiddy of Jackson, TN, Alice Mae King , and Joyce Cathlene Roland, both of Selmer; two sons, Junior Hollis Lambert of Bethel Springs, TN, and Dean Allen Robinson of East Peoria, IL; one sister, Deffie Armour of Selmer; two brothers, Aaron Rowland of Florida and Ulys Rowland of Selmer; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four gr-grandchildren, and eleven gr-gr-grandchildren. Services were on Sun., Mar. 20th, at 2 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Ellenwood officiating. Burial followed in Moore's Schoolhouse Cemetery in Selmer. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. .......... MERNA LAY SOWELL BROWN, 54, passed away Fri., Feb. 25, 2005. She was born July 16, 1950, in Michie, TN, the daughter of Redith Johnston Sowell and the late Wayne Edward Sowell. She is survived by two sons, William Estill Stewart of Tennessee, and Billy Gene Correll of Monticello, KY; two daughters, Tina Rena Hines and Patricia Ruth Hicks, Tina Darlene Raines, and Laura Jean Brown; one sister, Velvia Jane Morgan of Bethel Springs; three grandchildren and fifteen step-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were one brother, Elvin Toy Sowell; and one granddaughter, JaCinda Brooke Burks. Funeral services were on Sun., Feb. 27th, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Bill Dick and Bro. Dewey Burks officiating. Burial was in Elk Spring Cemetery. Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. .......... VIRGINIA CUMMINGS LEE, 83, of Selmer, TN passed away on Mar. 18, 2005, at McNairy Regional Hospital. She was a member of Selmer First United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member, a member of Junior Civic League, former den mother and a homemaker. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, William Eugene and Fannie Cobe Cummings; her husband, H. P. Lee; one son, Tom Lee; and one brother, Harry Cummings. She is survived by one son, Pat Lee of Selmer; two sisters, Helen Cressman of Orlando, FL and Lucy Knowles of Sparta, TN; four grandchildren and three gr-grandchildren. Graveside services were Mon., Mar. 21st, at 11 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer with Br. Zolon Clayton officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. .......... HOWARD LEE WHITTED, 89, of Memphis, TN passed away on Mar. 20, 2005, at his residence. He was a Baptist and worked 36 years for Firestone Tire Company. Mr. Whitted was preceded in death by his wife, Iva P. Whitted. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Wynn of Lakeland, TN and Patricia Whitted of Memphis; one sister, Laura Browder of Counce, TN; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
