BEVERLY ANN (NEE CAPERTON) COLLINS awoke to Christ's Resurrection on Apr. 25, 2005, surrounded by family and friends at her home in St. Charles, MO. Mrs. Collins, a twenty-two year cancer survivor, died of complications from metastatic cancer. Beverly Caperton was born in Adamsville, TN, on Dec. 26, 1943, the daughter of Johnnie (Nee Tidwell) and Harold B. Caperton, sister of Sue Kennedy and Nancy Hodge, and a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Tidwell and Mr. & Mrs. Noah Caperton. She learned of God's love for her and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Adamsville. Mrs. Collins was a woman of enormous faith and good will. She is remembered by many - her son's friends, her family, colleagues, and neighbors - as a shinning example of kindness, generosity and grace. Many were welcomed in her home and fed at the table. Many have benefited from her dedication, among them, other women living with breast cancer. "Team Beverly" did record-breaking fund raising for the American Cancer Society's Relay-for-Life. Even in the later months of her illness, she was thinking of others: organizing a toy drive for homeless children in St. Louis, this past Christmas. She was a lifelong member of the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons. She attended Union University and Memphis State University and worked as a medical records librarian at both Hardin & McNairy County Hospitals in Tennessee. She then served as the Executive Secretary to the National Board of Neurosurgery, and later as a medical transcriptionist at Missouri Baptist, in St. Louis. She married J. Terry Collins in 1974 and made a home with him in San Clemente, CA; Memphis, TN; Oklahoma City, OK; Sacramento, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; Chesterfield and St. Charles, MO. Christopher Terrence Collins was born 1975 and john Brian Collins was born in 1977. Bev Collins was an avid fan of her son's sports teams and the Cardinals. She loved the piano, the glow of candlelight, and the scent of fresh flowers she enjoyed gardening and her husband's cooking; and the voices of her grandnephews and grandnieces brought an immediate smile to her face. In addition to her husband of more than 30 years, she is survived by her two sons, Christopher and Brian, of St. Louis, MO; Jessica Cowee of St. Louis; her father, Harold B. Caperton of Adamsville, TN; Sue and Billy Joe Kennedy of Savannah, TN; Nancy and Barry Hodge, of Adamsville; Mary & Roger Smith of Las Vegas, NV; Sean Collins, of St. Louis; Nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends throughout the country.
