Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., Aug. 18, 2004 WILLIE CLYCE (W.C.) SCOTT of Pocahontas, 70, died on Mon., Aug. 9, 2004 at Methodist Healthcare-McNairy Hospital in Selmer. Mr. Scott was a member of Hunter's Chapel Holiness Church. He was the former owner of the Selmer Exxon, and was retired from Carrier in Memphis. Mr. Scott loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. L. Scott and Bamma Henseley Scott; and two brothers, J. L. Scott and Robert Scott. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Hermie Scott of Pocahontas; three sons, Jerry Scott of Selmer, David Scott and wife Debbie of Lake Charles, LA, and Bobby Scott and wife, Torie of Selmer; a brother, Melvin Scott of Summerville; a sister, Mavis Darnell and husband, Arthur Ray of Macon; six grandchildren, Joshua Scott, Jeremy Scott, Justin Scott, Savannah Scott, Ashley Scott, and Heather Scott; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 11th at Magnolia Chapel of memories with Bro. Darren Howell officiating. Burial followed at Old Enon Cemetery in Middleton. .......... OMA DEE RAY of Selmer, 84, died on Aug. 10, 2004 at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital. Mrs. Ray was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Calvin and Edith Jones Gardner and her husband, Cecil Glen Ray. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Stopher of Henderson and Jean Towater and husband, Roy of Jackson; a son, Jerry Ray and wife, Jan of Bartlett; three sisters, Ora Mae Littlejohn, Ottie Tanner, and Lola Gardner, all of Selmer; five grandchildren; Amy Johnson and husband, Vaughn of Bartlett, Niki Parks and husband, Adam of Lakeland, Todd Towater and wife, Kim, Lee Towater and wife, Michelle, and Neal Towater and wife, Trish, all three of Jackson; and six gr-grandchildren, Ryan, Shelby, Brooke, Hayden, Eli and Emili Towater, all of Jackson. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Aug. 12th at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with Ray Burks officiating. Burial followed at Falcon Cemetery in Selmer. .......... ADRINE HENDRIX JAGGARS of Selmer, 93, died Aug. 12, 2004 at County Cottage in Corinth. Mrs. Jaggars was the former owner and operator of Jaggars Kiddie Shop for 54 years. She had also worked as an LPN and beautician. She was a member of Selmer First Baptist Church. Mrs. Jaggars was very active in the Pilot Club and the Mental Health Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lee Hendrix and Athalee Carothers, Hendrix; her husband, Robert Lee Jaggars; two sisters, Lessie Hendrix and Chole Hendrix McCoy; and three brothers, R. B. Hendrix, Morphis Hendrix, and Moman Hendrix. She is survived by two sisters, Hazel Hendrix Leatherwood and Lillie Mae Hendrix, both of Memphis; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 14th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Max Walker officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer. THETUS WARDLOW of St. Charles, MO, 88, died on Aug. 10, 2004 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Mr. Wardlow was a retired surveyor for U. S. Geological Survey and a watchmaker. He was a member of St. Charles First General Baptist Church. He was also a member of the St. Charles Lodge 241 Free & Accepted Masons and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mr. Wardlow was also a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Wardlow and Maudie Farris Wardlow. He is survived by his wife, Kate Wardlow; a step-daughter, Faye Adams of St. Louis, MO; two step-sons, Donald Jones of Valparaiso, IN and Wendell Jones of St. Charles, MO; two sisters, Francis Danley of Flat Rock, MI and Mae Holdman of Memphis; two brothers, J. D. Wardlow of Rockdale, TX, and Noah Wardlow of Crescent City, CA. Mr. Wardlow also had eleven grandchildren and eighteen gr-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Fri., Aug. 13th at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with Roy Stanfield officiating. Burial followed at Pebble Hill Cemetery in Michie. .......... FLORENCE DILLON KING of Selmer, 66, died on Aug. 16, 2004 at a decedent's residence in Selmer. She was a retired bookkeeper from Rollison Logging Equipment. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erby Lee Dillon and Ethel Hurst Dillon; two sisters, Margaret Francis Miller and Joy Ann Dillon; two brothers, John Carroll Dillon and William Ancil Dillon; and one grandchild, Jeffery king. She is survived by her husband, Wilton King; two sons, Jerry Lee King and wife Jackie of Hornsby and Carroll King and wife Nina of Pocahontas; three sisters, Bessie Marie Goodrum of Selmer, Essie Lou McMahan of Pocahontas, and Jessie Lee Brocke of Hornsby; three grandchildren, Mandy Rickman and husband Robert of Selmer, Nathan King of Hornsby and Wendy King of Pocahontas; and one gr-grandchildren, Brittany Rickman of Selmer. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 17th at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with Frank Bell officiating.
