    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., Aug. 4, 2004 DOROTHY CASWELL of Selmer, 73, died on July 25, 2004 at her residence. Ms. Caswell was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Gladys Maddox Kenner; her husband, Ben Frank Caswell; and a son, Benny Wayne Caswell. She is survived by five daughters, Mildred R. Britton of Selmer. Yvette Browarski of New York, Ruth Ann Kenyan of Texas, Betty Jean Davis of Virginia, and Patricia Regan of Texas and two sons, Ronny Butler of Texas and Tommy Neal Butler of Mississippi. Ms. Caswell also has twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-seven gr-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at a later date. .............. GARLAND LEE JONES of Adamsville, 72, died on July 27, 2004 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Jones was a farmer and truck driver for Adamsville Sand and Gravel for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zelford C. and Artie Lee Nixon Jones and a sister, Nell Chambers. He is survived by his wife, Nona Jones; two daughters, Angela Inman (Bobby) of Corinth and Alesia Scott (Cecil) of Counce; two sons, Kerry Jones (Connie) of Stantonville, and Mark Jones of Adamsville; four sister, Lavon Sullivan of Selmer, Neta Tyler of Crump, Betty Stocks of Stantonville, and Dorothy Pettigrew of Adamsville; and three brothers, Jimmy Jones of Adamsville, Sammy Jones of Shiloh, and Mike Jones of Adamsville. Mr. Jones also has three grandchildren. Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 28th at Shackelford Funeral Home with Ricky Sisk & Billy Wagoner officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Vinson Cemetery in Stantonville. ..................... VERNON H. GOBER of Adamsville, 66, died on July 28, 2004 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Gober was a farmer and minister for 40 years for several churches in Alabama and Tennessee. He was a member of Plummers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Freewill Baptist Minister Board Member, McNairy County Farmers CO-OP Board of Directors, former member of Soil Conservation Service, and a U. S. Navy Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Benson Gober of Adamsville; two sons, Gary Vernon Gober of Adamsville and Alan Randal Gober of Milledgeville; and two sisters, Myra Ruth Thomas of Humboldt and Dorothy Ann Cunningham of Morris Chapel. Mr. Gober also had one grandchild. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sun., Aug. 1st at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville. Burial followed in Milledgeville Cemetery in Milledgeville. ..................... HAROLD LLOYD PICKERING of Bethel Springs, 79, died on July 31, 2004 at a decedent's residence. Mr. Pickering was a retired railroad inspector for Illinois Central Railroad. He was a former member of the Whitehaven Masonic Lodge Number 599. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Leonard and Rhoda Monk Pickering; a sister, Joneta Cook; a brother, Leonard Pickering; and a grandchild, Steven J. Strickland. He is survived by his wife, Lela Faye Pickering; two daughter, Janice P. Lemons of Bethel Springs and Sharon K. Strickland of Ripley, MS; a son, David L. Pickering of Bethel Springs; a sister, Maxine McDonald of Pine Bluff, AR; George R. Pickering of Pine Bluff, AR; seven grandchildren, Heather L. Lemons of Memphis, Charles S. Lemons, Jr. of Bethel Springs, Roxanne Gray of Blue Mountain, MS,. Jennifer Burkeens of Adamsville, William J. Adamson of Ripley, and Jacob Strickland, Ripley; two gr-grandchildren, Jonathan Burkeens o f Adamsville and Emily P. Gray of Blue Mountain, MS; and two sons-in-law, Steven Lemons of Bethel Spring and Danny L. Strickland of Ripley. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 3rd at Shackelford Funeral Home Directors of Selmer with Hardin Hosey officiating.
