    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Wed., June 30, 2004 INEZ DAVIS, 88, died Wed., June 23, 2004 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis after a sudden illness. She was born and raised in Adamsville and was the daughter of the late Oscar and Margie Williams Dallas. She was a homemaker and the widow of Waldo Davis who preceded he in death on July 21, 1978. She was a longtime member of the Maryfield Church of Christ in Saltillo. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sat. in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues (Tupelo) with Minister Clyde Mize officiating. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. on Sat. at Mars Hill Cemetery in Leapwood. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Fry and her husband, Robert of Memphis, Lily Duffy and her husband, Marshall, of Medina, and Martha May and her husband Fred of Saltillo; one son, John Davis of Atlanta; one sister, Maurie Pusser of Adamsville; one brother, Curtis Dallas and his wife Eva of Memphis; then grandchildren, Nicky May, Greg May, Steve Smith, Valerie Houloose, Dana Delso, Donna Davis, Sabrina Davis, Debbie Davis, Jimmy Davis, and Cindy Dace; and several gr-grandchildren. Two sons, Don and Hardy Davis preceded her in death. .............. Services for JOE DAVID "JOEY, JO-JO, JODY" MILLER, 39, were Wed., at 3 p.m. at the Shackelford Chapel with Jimmy Cates and Mark Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery near Selmer with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer in charge. Joey died June 18, 2004 in Jackson. He was born in Henderson on Mar. 23, 1965 to Louise Gann Miller and the late W. T. Miller. He was Baptist in faith, involved as a community participation volunteer and enjoyed visiting the elderly. Other than his mother, Louise Miller of Bethel Springs, Joey is survived by his step-father Jimmy Dickson of Bethel Springs; beloved brothers, Dennis Miller and his wife Debra of Selmer, Tommy Miller of Bethel Springs, Stacy Dickson of Savannah; a special grandmother, Ms. Essie Dickson; three aunts, Virginia Dixon, Lillie Gann, and Patricia Cates and husband Jimmy; uncles, Robert Gann and wife Alice, Bennie Gann and wife Edith; his very special companions, Teresa and Garrey Plunk, Linda Crutchfield, Angelica Teague, Johnny Mays, Marie Henry, Woody and Carol Marbry, Grace and Ben Wells, Corine Terry; and a very special cousin Ronald Vandiver who visited with him often, as well as numerous cousins, friends, and relatives, his Neighborhood Network Family, Star Center Family, Advocates Mark Wilkerson and Jeannie Crocker and his therapists. Other than his father, a sister Ellen Louise Miller preceded Joey in death. Joey's life touched many people in many different places. Visiting them was his greatest joy next to drinking coffee. ............... WINFRED MICHAEL BROWDER of Selmer, 56, died on June 21, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Browder was a manufacturing engineer for Thyssen Krupp Elevator. He was a member of New Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a Mason, and a retired Lt. Colonel in the Army National Guard where he served for thirty-two years. Mr. Browder received a Bachelor's degree from Mississippi State. He received a Masters in Business and Engineering from University of Memphis. He is survived by his parents, Winfred O'Neal and Alice Mae Dunaway of Selmer; his wife, Robin Lynee Browder; two daughters, Amy Jo Stanley of Ramer and Ashley Jarrett of Selmer; a son, James Kevin Browder of Ramer; a brother, Roger David Browder of Selmer; and four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Dustin Michael Browder, Samantha Danielle Browder, Christian Alexander Browder; Tyler Lane Stanley, Veronica Ann Lewis and Dale Jarrett. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., June 24th at Shackelford Chapel. Burial followed at Falcon cemetery in Selmer. ............ GLADYS G. FISHER of Michie, 98, died on June 23, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Fisher was a homemaker. She was also a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and Lebanon Church Quilting Club for 53 years. She was a Sunday School teacher and an avid contributor to charitable organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lute and Lula Northcutt; her husband, Cecil Fisher; and a son, Woodson Fisher. She is survived by four daughter, Rheba Carter of Savannah, Gay Brown of Michie, Mary Lou Bryant of Michie, and Margie Chandler of Stantonville; four sons, Dale Fisher of Michie, Larry Fisher of Mclemoresville, Gerald Fisher of Michie, and Paul Fisher of Selmer. Mrs. Fisher also had twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-one gr-grandchildren, and fourteen gr-gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Fri., June 25th at Lebanon United Methodist Church with George Reed, Dr. Paul Mullikin, and Robert Jetton officiating. Burial followed at Lebanon Cemetery in Michie. Memorial contributions can be made to Lebanon United Methodist Church. ............ J. C. MANNING of Guys, 92, died on June 212, 2004 at McNairy County Health Center. Mr. Manning was a faithful member of St. Rest M. B. Church. He was a deacon and a committee member of St. Rest Cemetery. Mr. Manning retired from Corinth-Counce Railroad Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Manning and Evie Lee Warren Manning; his wife, Mae Dell Campbell; and a brother, Charles Manning, Sr. He is survived by a son, James Paul Luster of Maury, Ohio; a daughter, Gertrude Clark of Guys; a nephew, Charles Manning, Jr. of Memphis; and one grandchild, Barry A. Clark of Guys. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Fri., June 25th at St. Rest M. B. Church with Rev. O. J. Saulter officiating. Burial followed at St. Rest M. B. Church Cemetery. .............. WILLIAM WILEY ADA of Finger, 70, died on June 22, 2004 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Ada was a member of The Sanctuary Worship Center and an U. S. Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew France and Lilly Mae Forsyth Ada. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jean Smith Ada and a son, William Keith Ada of Savannah. Services were held at 4 p.m. on Fri., June 25th at Shackelford Chapel with Paul Henry officiating. Burial followed at Maggie Jones Memorial Cemetery in Finger. .......... TIMOTHY PAUL "TIM" HOOK of Savannah, 35, died on June 24, 2004 at Hardin County General Hospital. Mr. Hook was born in Sheffield, AL. He was a member of the New Life United Pentecostal Church. He was also a member of Twin Creek Hunting, Bear Trace Golf Club, and Extreme Fitness, member of Local 277 and 455 Iron Workers. He is survived by his parents, Paul E. and Monita R. Hook of Savannah; his wife, Angie Hines Hook; two daughters, Amber Nicole Hook and Haley Lyn Hook of Savannah; and a sifter, Mitzi Hook McElhaney of Nashville. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sun., at New Life United Pentecostal Church. Burial followed at Neill Cemetery in Hardin County. ................ LEWIS MCCLAIN, JR. of Selmer, 72, died on June 26, 2004 at Tri-County Convalescent Home. Mr. McClain was a sawmill employee and farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Atlas and Adell Turner McClain; one daughter, Debbie Sue McClain; and one son, Larry Anthony McClain. He is survived by his wife, Hester McClain; two daughters, Teresa McClain of Michie and Brandy McClain of Selmer; four sisters, Mardell Comer of Guys, Nancy Null of Eastview, Mae Jordan and Joyce Ann Butler, both of Saltillo; and two brothers, Benny Ray McClain of Eastview and Bernice McClain of Guys. Mr. McClain also had three grandchildren, and three gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Tues., June 29th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Eastview. .................. VERA ELIZABETH CURTIS, 92, died Sat., June 12, 2004 at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove, Wilmington, NC. Mrs. Curtis was born Mar. 25, 1912 in Corinth the daughter of the late Albert Lafayette Coleman and Ila Lain Coleman. Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Montie Curtis; two sons, Robert Wendell Curtis and James Albert Curtis; and a very special friend, Stanley Seroka. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Norman of Wilmington, one sister, Rachel Anna Ripley of Caseyville, IL; and five grandchildren, and numerous gr-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Mon., June 14th at Cobe Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel with Deacon Joseph Teaff officiating. At a later date in the year her ashes will in be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in lieu of flowers. ................... BETTY ANN SMITH of Bethel Springs, 67, died on June 25, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Mrs. Smith was a retired seamstress for Murray Hill Manufacturing. She was also a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and a good neighbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Brown and Maudie Griswell Brown; her husband, Connie L. Smith; a daughter, Teresa Turner; a son, Infant Cummings; a sister, Delma Sue Garner; a brother Curtis H. Brown; and a grandchild, Jessica Wardlow. She is survived by a daughter, Anna McDaniel of Bethel Springs; five sons, Tommy R. Cummings, James H. Smith, Rickey G. Smith, Timothy L Smith, all of Bethel Springs, and John A. Cummings of Selmer; a sister, Bess Siler of Brownsville; and three brothers, James Brown and Albert Brown, both of Adamsville, and George Brown of Selmer. She also had eleven grandchildren, and two gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sun., June 27th at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with Billy Joe Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Beauty Hill Cemetery in Bethel Springs. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or The Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. ................. CHARLES RAY DICKSON of Cordova, 69, died on June 26, 2004 at St. Frances Hospital in Bartlett. Mr. Dickson was the owner of Dickson Marine Diesel Parts, Inc. He served in the Air Force. He was a member of the Propeller Club. He attended the University of Memphis. He also attended Bellevue Baptist Church. He is survive by two daughters, Angela Dickson Graeber of Ridgeland, MS, Kimberly Dickson Walker of Memphis; three sisters, Sue Pickens of Gatlinburg, Shirley Smith of Highland, IN, and Mary Lynn Gaines of Oakridge; one brother, Earl Glenn Dickson of Lenoir City. Mr. Dickson also had two grandchildren. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tues., June 29th at Germantown Parkway Chapel. Burial followed at Milledgeville Cemetery at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude. ................... JAMES A PATRICK, JR. 73, De Frenias Springs, FL passed away Tues., June 22, 2004 at the VA Hospital in Biloxi, MS. Mr. Patrick retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant with over 20 years of service. He was a U. S. Air Force marksmanship instructor, traveling Air Force-wide to Tactical Air Command Bases. He was awarded a gold medal from President Lyndon Johnson while on the U. S. Air Force National Rifle Team. Mr. Patrick was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and James A. Patrick; his brothers, Kenneth Rhea Patrick and William S. Patrick of Corinth. He is survived by his wife, Babbie Pettigrew Patrick; son James A. Patrick III of Fort Walton Beach, FL; daughters, Judith Ann Patrick of Anchorage, AK, Barbara Jo Boockhaldt of Tallahassee, FL and Linda Fassnacht of Fort Walton Beach, FL; brother, Harold Patrick of Corinth; and sister, Rosemary Landreth of Selmer. He also had several grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sat., June 26th at Clary Glenn Funeral Home with full military honors at graveside, active pallbearers were U. S. Air Force Honor Guard. ................ KATHY ANN (WADE) BURLEY of Guys, 46, died on June 15, 2004 at her residence. She attended McNairy Central High School and was employed with ITT of Selmer, and ITT and Dana of Corinth., She enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie B. and Lottie Wade and her half-sister, Zenola Prather. She is survived by her husband, Danny K. Burley, Sr., ofd Guys; a son, Danny K. Burley, Jr. of Guys; a daughter, LaTonia (Terry) Beckom of Jackson; two brothers, Larry Wade and Harry Wade both of Guys; a sister, Vilene (Bobby) Windom of Guys; and aunt, Veola Dilworth of Corinth an uncle, George Barnes of Selmer; and one grandchild Amiri O. Beckom of Jackson. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on June 19th at St. Rest M. B. Church with rev. O. J. Salters officiating.
