Appeared in the Independent Appeal Wed., Mar. 22, 2006 CARLOS EDWARD WILBANKS, age 58 of Michie, TN, died on Mar. 12, 2006, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was a retired production worker at Aqua Glass where he worked for 8 years and a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Corinth, MS. Mr. Wilbanks was preceded in death by his father, Homer Carlos Wilbanks and his mother, Ruby Bessie Hysmith Wilbanks; and two brothers, Dallas Wilbanks and Wayne Wilbanks. He is survived by his wife, Emma Hurst Wilbanks; one daughter, Christy Holder and husband, Daniel, of Jackson, TN; one son, Jeremy Wilbanks of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Mamie James of Michie, TN and Geraldine Williams of Murfreesboro; three brothers Willie Jo Wilbanks of Pickwick, TN, Jasper D. Wilbanks of Conce, TN, and Johnny D. Wilbanks of Shiloh, TN; one granddaughter, Alexis Holder of Jackson, TN; and one goddaughter, Elaina Wilbanks of Corinth, MS. Services were at 11 a.m. on Tues., Mar. 14th, at the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Corinth with Gary Hodum officiating. Burial followed in Lebanon Cemetery in Michie, TN. Major HENRY PORTER PLUNK, age 83, of Vancleave, MS, died Mon., Mar. 13, 2006 in Ocean Springs. Mr. Plunk was a resident of the coast since 1967. He served during WWII as a fighter pilot in the European Theater. He later retired from civil service at the Naval Base in Gulfport. He was a member of the Great Southern Club Golf Club and was an avid golfer. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Plunk was preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Myrtle Barber Plunk, and a sister, Janis Plunk Paul. Survivors include his wife Peggy Dees Plunk of Vancleave; two daughters, Betty McCarroll of Long Beach, MS, and Oney (Joel) Reynolds of San Antonio, TX; one son, Daryl Plunk of Alexandra, VA; three sisters, Bernice Banks of Canton, GA, Helen Summers of Selmer, TN, and Barbara Robinson of Bethel Springs, TN; two brothers, Dr. Leonard Plunk of Athens, AL, and William G. JAMES ROBERT JAMERSON of Everett, MA, died Tues., Mar 14, 2006, at the Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose MA, he was 87. Born on Apr. 3, 1918, in Enville, TN, the son of the late James E. and Josephine S. (Moore) Jamerson. He attended school in Tennessee, but then left to help out on his family farm. James enlisted in the Army in February of 1942 during World War II. He met his sweetheart, Urmah R. Jamerson, while he was stationed in Boston and the two married in 1943. They spent over 61 years in marriage together, raising their family until Urmah's passing in December of 2004. James fought courageously in the war, seeing active military duty in Normandy, Northern France, and Central Europe; he also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. For his deeds, he was awarded with EMAE Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart. James was a Private 1st Class with the Battery B. 448th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion when he was dis! charged in October of 1945. Upon his return home, James became a cook for the Chelsea Naval Hospital, where he worked for over 30 years until he retired in the early 1970's alone with the hospital's closing. James was a member of the America Legion in Everett as well as a member of the D.A.V. James was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan. He was an extremely hard-working guy, working two and three jobs to help support his large family, but he always has time to catch his boys' baseball games and his children's various activities. In his later years, he was always around for his grandchildren. Mr. Jamerson lived in Everett for over 60 years. He is survived by his children Charlene and her husband Albert Allen of Lorain, OH, Jean M. and her husband Walter Oxford of Melrose, MA, James R. Jamerson, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Wilmington, MA, William Jamerson and his wife Susan of Indianapolis, IN, John Jamerson and his wife Karen of Wilmington, and Thomas Jamerson and his wife Rene of Georgetown, MA, his sisters, Mauline Singleton, Pauline Hair, Nell Nowlin, Mandy Amerson and Jean Cox all from Tennessee, 14 grandchildren, 12 gr-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Urmah, and his brothers, Garner Jamerson, Wilson Jamerson and Ovie Jamerson A funeral services were in Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Sat. CARTER, age 70 of Corinth, MS, passed away on Mar. 19, 2006, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. Mr. Carter was the son of the late Jasper and Beulah Carter and a graduate of Kossuth High School, where he was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team. Mr. Carter was employed with Refreshments and retired as a manager of Waste Management. He was a member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening. Other than his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by one son, Phil Carter and one brother, Redgie Carter. He is survived by is wife, Sharon S. NELLIE HENSON of Savannah, TN was born in the Big Ivy Community of Hardin County on Mar. 4, 1918, the daughter of the late Bryon S. and Mary Jane Shubert Ward. On Dec. 12, 1936, she was united in marriage to J. R. Henson, who preceded her in death on July 26, 1994. Mr. Henson was a homemaker and also worked in the garment industry at Salant & Salant in Somerville, TN, Garan in Adamsville, TN, and River Heights Manufacturing Co. in Crump, TN. She was a member of Sand Hill Pentecostal Church. She departed this life on Mar. 16, 2006, at Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah, at the age of 88 years and 12 days. Mrs. Henson is survived by 5 daughters: Nellie Bell Dunn of Lawton, OK, Ann McLain of Selmer, TN, Martha Dianne Davis of Adamsville, TN, Rachel Naomi "Omie" Keymon, and Lillie Frances "Boo" McFadden, both of Savannah, TN; 4 sons: James Henson of Lawrenceville, GA, Odis Henson of Adamsville, Roger Henson of Savannah, and Larry Henson of Morris Chapel, TN; one brother Wes Ward of Savannah; 42 grandchildren, 69 gr-grandchildren, and 9 gr-gr-grandchildren. WILLIAM ARTHUR (PETE) BAGGETT was born Aug. 29, 1935, in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Willie Baggett and the late Hester Rich Baggett. He was united in marriage to Mary D. Smith on Nov. 16, 1960. He was a retired timber cutter and farmer and a Baptist. Mr. Baggett departed this life on Fri., Mar. 17, 2006 at McNairy Regional Hospital in Selmer, TN. Survivors are his wife Mary D. Baggett of Adamsville, TN; four daughters, Shelia Waldrop of Selmer, Tina King of Morris Chapel, TN, Kathy Linn Baggett of LaFayette, GA, and Tammy Hurst of Henderson, TN; one son, William Allen Baggett of Finger, TN; three sisters, Mary Edna Melton of Ramer, Ann Sims of Memphis, TN, and Lula Mosier of Montezuma, TN; 7 grandchildren and 4 gr-grandchildren. Other than his parents, Mr. Baggett was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Lou Garner, Faye Hearn, and Martha Fortune; and two brothers, Donald Franklin Baggett and Sam Baggett. KATIE LEE BREWER was born in McNairy County, TN, on Feb. 18, 1917, the daughter of the late Hollis and Gertie Lucas Comer. She was united in marriage to Clyde Brewer, who preceded his wife in death on Aug. 1, 1982. Mrs. Brewer worked for Harwood Shirt Factory and she was a member of Crump First Baptist Church. She departed this life on Mar. 19, 2006, at the Tri-County Convalescent Home in Adamsville, TN at the age of 89 years, 1 month, 1 day. Mrs. Brewer is survived by 3 daughters, Barbara Singleton and her husband, Hughie of Lone Star, TX, Judy Thomas and her husband Sam of Splendora, TX, and Becky English and her husband Sammy of Adamsville; one brother, Ellsworth Comer of Conesville, OH; one daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Brewer of Adamsville; 11 grandchildren, 21 gr-grandchildren, and 3 gr-gr-grandchildren. Mrs. Brewer was also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Brewer and Jerry Brewer and his wife Glenda, two grandsons, Edward Lee Singleton and Terrel Leon Brewer, one sister, Rosa Nell Smelson, and 3 brothers, Sidney, Howard and Jessie Comer.
