    3. I'm trying to locate the burial place of James Brickeen (Burkeen), born about 1806 in North Carolina. I have always been told he died around Dec 1874 in Stantonville, McNairy County Tennessee. I have a copy of Albert Brown's "Index to McNairy County Tennessee Cemeteries" and a copy of R. Harold Cox's "Cemetery Inscriptions and Notes, Vol. 1" but cannot find him or his wife Nancy listed. Hope someone knows. Thanks Jerry

    3. Jerry, I wish you success in your quest. I began a cemetery survey in McNairy Co., way back in the 1970's which I never completed. There are MANY field stones (Rocks without inscriptions) in some cemeteries. If James is not listed in one of the surveys, then he may be under one of those "fieldstones". For you sake I hope I'm wrong and someone can identify his burial place for you, but memories fade and unless a real marker was placed at his grave, his burial location may be "lost" to time.
