First, I would try the state archives to see if they have a copy. The St. Louis County Library (Missouri) which houses the National Genealogical Society's collection may have it, and if so can interlibrary loan it. Also check the LDS database at familysearch.org to see if they have it microfilmed. Since you don't have a final title you may have to go by the author's name or even search by county. HeritageQuest may have it filmed also. If you can gain access to HQ, they have thousands of scanned books whose copyrights have expired.
