Also her grandson's first name should have read, Jack Webb. Corrected: OLA DEAN KLYCE, age 96, died May 16, 2004 at Crockett County Nursing Home. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on May 18, 2004 at Cairo Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Fred Klyce and son-in-law Edward Exum. She is survived by two sons, Harlin (Ruth) Klyce of Rockwood and Newl (Demetra) Klyce of Alamo; four daughters, Betty Exum of Clarbsdale, MS, Juanice (William R.) Pitner of Cordova, Marilyn (Ralph) Webb of Chewalla, and Donna Ann (Charles) Robinson of Ramer. Grandchildren are Jack Webb, Jacob Webb, Chris Robinson, Libby Whitten, Ed Exum, Steven Klyce, Robert Klyce, Kenneth Klyce, Janet Treadway, Richard George, Gay Lynn Bell, Jean Pitner, and Troy Klyce. There are nineteen gr-grandchildren. One, China Webb Dalton, is local. She also had one gr-gr-grandchild, Jordan Koch. ........... MARTHA JANE FERGUSON of Adamsville, 67, died on May 29, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Ferguson was an EMT instructor, the first female EMT and paramedic in Jackson, and a member of Corinth Ward of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her hobby was frequenting yard sales. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl C. and Ardie Ruth and her husband, Glen Ferguson. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Hill of Memphis and Jeanie Springer of Henderson; two sons, Jerry Lane of Memphis and David Ganus of Hohenwald; a sister, Peggy Dobbs of Adamsville; and two brothers, Gene Ruth of Adamsville and Johnny Ruth of Birdsong. Mrs. Ferguson also had ten grandchildren and four gr-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tues., June 1st at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville with Bishop Ron Johnson officiated. Burial followed at Little Hatchie in Hornsby. ................ VENICE MAY HURST of Bethel Springs, 85, died on May 18, 2004 at the Tri-County Convalescent Home. Miss Hurst was a homemaker. She was also of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Finley Hurst and Eufie Russom Hurst; her husband, Loyce Hurst; and a son, Howard Lee Hurst. She is survived by two daughters, Wanda McNeil of Bethel Springs and Hazel Teague of Ramer; five sons, Harold Hurst of Selmer, Douglas Hurst, Eugene Hurst both of Bethel Springs, Jerry Hurst of Enville, and Alva Dee Hurst of Adamsville; a sister, Mazel Riley of Bethel Springs; and a brother, Elmer Hurst of Corinth. She also had twenty grandchildren and twenty-five gr-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thurs., May 20th at Shackelford. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in McNairy. ................ R. B. DICKEY of Stantonville, 80, died on May 25, 2004 at V. A. Medical Center in Memphis. Mrs. Dickey was a farmer and an assistant mail carrier. He was a member of West Shiloh Baptist Church, and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. Dickey and Virda Rinks Dickey; two sisters, Maverine Helton and Zelphia Davis; and a brother, James Grady Dickey. He is survived by his wife, Annie Faye Sweat Dickey; three sons, Jimmy Dickey of Stantonville, Stanley Dickey of Selmer, and Randy Scott of Springfield; a sister, Lorranie Roten of Jackson; and two grandchildren, Sharon Horrewood and Allison Smith. He also had four gr-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., May 27th at Shackelford Chapel with Lynn Eagen officiating. Burial followed at West Shiloh Cemetery in Stantonville. ................ WILLIAM EARL DAWSON of Selmer, 67, died on May 27, 2004 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Dawson moved houses for a living. He was also of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison M. and Lilly Dawson and a son, William Earl Dawson, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Olene Barnes Dawson; a son, James Allen Dawson of Selmer; a brother, Elmer Dawson of Maryland; and two grandchildren, Hunter and Hailey Dawson Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sat., May 29th at Shackelford Chapel. Burial followed at Pleasant Site Cemetery in Selmer. ................ MARGARET ELIZABETH BROOKS GRUBB HENRY HORACE GRUBB, 92, of Camp Hill, PA, formerly of Miami, FL and Memphis, TN, musician, teacher, and artist, died on Oct. 31, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services in Camp Hill. She died from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Memphis in 1911 where she began studying piano, she was the daughter of the late Dolph P. and Daisy Hockaday Brooks, Originally from McNairy County. Mrs. Grubb moved to Florida as a child, and attended Miami Edison Junior and Senior High Schools. A gifted musician, she began teaching piano in her teens and in 1937, at age twenty-six, served as president of the Miami Tuesday Muciale Club. She became a long-standing member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers Association and the America Guild of Organists. During her professional lifetime, she held positions as organist and choir director at numerous churches in the Greater Miami area including United Church of Christ (1937-43), Coral Way Presbyterian (1944-46), Opalocka Baptist, South Miami Methodist, Miami Beach Community, Miami Beach Christian Scientist, Trinity Episcopal and Holy Family Episcopal (1966-80). A loving, Christian mother and wife of the late Henry Horace Grubb (b.1892-d. 1970 Miami) of Wilmington, Del., Mrs. Grubb overcame significant personal difficulties including deafness, since childhood, and breast cancer. After retiring from private practice as a music teacher, she became, in her sixties, and inspiring substitute elementary school teacher in the Dade County School District in Miami. Mrs. Grubb was also an accomplished artist using oils and watercolor as he media. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Havnaer-leach, of Camp Hill, PA; son Erle Grubb, of New York City and Stroudsburg, PA; granddaughter, Karen Havnaer of Shippensburg, PA; and grandson, David Havnaer, of Charlotte, NC. Her family and friends will miss her dearly. Cremains will be interred, along with those of her husband, at a graveside service on Sun., June 6th at 2 p.m. at Falcon Cemetery, Selmer, and the Reverend Max Walker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music department of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church, 417 South 22nd Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011, in memory of Mrs. Grubb. ................ JERRY FOREST GRANTHAM of Selmer, 59, died on May 26, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Mr. Grantham was a truck driver for Bolivar Concrete. He also attended the Center Ridge Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Dollie Jones Grantham; and three brothers, Buster Grantham, Gordon Grantham, and Roy Grantham. He is survived by his wife, Janice Grantham; a daughter, Janice Rowland of Bethel Springs; a son, Jerry Lynn Grantham of Selmer; two sisters, Ruby Grantham and Minnie Isbell, both of Hornsby; and three grandchildren, Kendrick Grantham, Makela Rowland, and Macey Rowland. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Fri., May 28th at Shackelford Chapel. Burial followed at Stantonville Cemetery in Stantonville. ................ CLINT WASHBURN of Selmer, 21, died May 26, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Clint was a member of Selmer First Baptist Church. He was a senior at Middle Tennessee State University. He also worked for Custom Woodworking in Ramer. He was a 2000 graduate of McNairy Central High School. He was a four-year letterman in baseball and a three-year letterman in football. Clint enjoyed playing Nintendo games, and he liked to attend Widespread Panic Concerts. Clint was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Mary Lee Washburn and his maternal grandfather, Gerald Gilbert. Clint is survived by his parents, James Donnie and Jan Gilbert Washburn of Selmer; his maternal grandmother, Geneva Gilbert of Chewalla; and a sister, Samantha Washburn Black. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Mon., May 28th at Shackelford Chapel with Max Walker and Gregg Worthey officiating. Burial followed at Falcon Cemetery in Selmer. ................ FAY J. BRITTON of Selmer, 62, died on May 29, 2004 at her residence. Ms. Britton had worked for the Housekeeping Department at McNairy Regional Hospital for twenty-three years, and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents Rufus D. and Lennie Mae Ross Johnson; two sisters, Edith Waddle and Lillie Bell Freeman; a son, James Otis Smith; and two grandsons, Dennis Wayne Smith and James Otis Smith, Jr. She is survived by two sisters, Gail Britton and Carolyn Lipford, both of Alamo; two brothers, Herman Johnson of Paris and John Johnson of Golden, MS.; and a granddaughter, Martha Faye Smith. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Mon., May 31st at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paul Mullikin officiated. Burial followed at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Bethel Springs. ................ ROBERT FRANK ADA of Finger, 59, died on May 28, 2004 at V. A. Medical Center in Memphis. Mr. Ada was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a self-employed electrician. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis M. and Lillie Forsythe Ada. He is survived by a daughter, Robin Porter of Sourthaven, MS; a son, Brian Ada of Worrior, AL; and four grandchildren. Graveside services and burial were held at 10 a.m. on Sat., May 29th at Maggie Jones Cemetery with Joy Foster officiating. ................ GOLDEN IRONS of Shiloh, 80, died on May 27, 2004 at Savannah Health Care Center. Golden at an early age united with Saint Rest Baptist Church. He served his county in the U. S. Army during World War II from Sept. 31, 1943 until Mar. 14, 1946. He was also a well known farmer. Mr. Irons was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Zelphia Irons; two brothers, James and Augustine Irons; and two sisters, Cornelius Tate and Mattie Taylor. He is survived by four sons, Robert Irons, Sr., Larry Irons, Clarence Irons, and Charles Irons; four daughters, Mae Gillard, Geneva Scurry, Carolyn Wilson, dna Sarah Irons; two brothers, Belvin Irons and S. T. Irons; and three sisters, Gladys Brown, Rosette Troope, and Mable Dean. Mr. Irons also had seventeen grandchildren and fourteen gr-grandchildern. Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. on Wed., June 2nd at St. Rest Baptist Church with Bro. Will Luster, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery. ................ Have a nice day!
