    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper, Wed., June 9, 2004 JOHN WAYNE SMITH, SR. of Booneville, MI, 57, died on May 30, 2004 at Northeast Mississippi Medical Center. Mr. Smith attended Wick Anderson High School. He enjoyed fishing, painting, and cooking. He was employed at Chrysler Corp. for thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Shinualt and Bobbie Johnson; a granddaughter, Alayja Couch; one grandson and two more granddaughters. He is survived by his wife Audrey M. Smith; three sons, John Smith, Jr. and Jaun Smith both of Beloit, WI, and Jeremy McDonald of Booneville; five daughters, Alice Bell (Tracy), Theresa Johnson, and LaKeysha Smith all of Beloit, WI, and Santana McDonald and Mishesta McDonald, both of Booneville; two brothers, Robert Taylor and Barry Clark; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special friends, K. C. Jones, Beme Golden, Curley Clover, and Rodney (Yam) Williams; and a special daughter, Tara Smith. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on June 5th at Springhill MB Church in Booneville with Rev. Houston Owens officiating. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery. ................. BURL M. SMITH was born in McNairy County, TN, on June 23, 1909, the son of the late Robert and Lissie Short Smith. On Sept. 14, 1946, Mr. Smith was united in marriage to the former Louise McDaniel who survives. Mr. Smith was a member of the Adamsville First United Methodist Church. He was the owner and operator of Smith Furniture Co. in Adamsville for approximately forty years. Mr. Smith served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He passed from this life on Mon., May 31, 2004 at his residence in Adamsville at the age of ninety-four years, eleven months and eight days. Other than his wife, Louise M. Smith of Adamsville, Mr. Smith is survived by a son, David Smith and his wife Linda of Denver, CO; one sister, Martha Hays of Lexington, and one brother, Coleman Smith of Adamsville. Other than his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, May Lee Lumpkin and a brother, Page Smith. Services were held, Thurs., June 3rd at 1 p.m. at the Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville with Rev. Steven Callicoatt officiating and Bob Smith doing the eulogy. Burial followed in the Adamsville Cemetery. ............... JUANITA LEE KING of Memphis, 90, died on June 2, 2004 at St. Frances Hospital. Miss King was a homemaker and a member of the Woodlawn Eastern Star in Memphis. She was also of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Buford King. She is survived by two daughters, Faye Foley of Lebanon and Carolyn Reese of Waverly. She also had nine grandchildren and twelve gr-grandchildren. Services were held, at 11 a.m. on Sat., June 5th at the Shackelford Chapel with Roy Burks officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer. ............... DOROTHY CHRISTINE WHITTEN of Bethel Springs, 78, died on June 4, 2004 at McNairy Regional Hospital. Miss Whitten was a retired machine operator of Brown Shoe Company and a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bate and Euphie Estes Kernodle. She is survived by a daughter, Vicky French of Memphis; a son, Ricky Whitten of Bethel Springs; a sister, Gladys Kirby of Louisville, KY; and a brother, George Edward Kernodle of Kenton. Miss Whitten also had four grandchildren and one gr-grandchild. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Mon., June 7th at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Holloway officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Bethel Springs. ............... MARCELLE ANN MORTON WILDER, longtime resident of the Longtown Community of Fayette County and wife of Tennessee Lieutenant Governor John S. Wilder, Sr., 83, died on Mon., June 7, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Wilder was a devoted member of the Braden United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and served as historian of her church. Mrs. Wilder was also one of the original founders of the Tennessee Waltz Organization. She was also an active member of the Tennessee Bicentennial Committee in 1996, promoting the 200th Anniversary of the State of Tennessee. Mrs. Wilder was known for her love of history and family genealogy and was honored by her hometown of Williston by naming the Community Park in her honor, now known as the Marcelle Morton Wilder Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Arthur Morton and Ruby E. Parrott Morton. She is survived by her husband, John S. Wilder; two sons, Shelton Wilder and wife Judy of the Longtown Community and David M. Wilder and wife Patti of Collierville; four grandchildren, John Wilder III, of Longtown, Joseph C. Wilder of Knoxville, Jarod Wilder of Memphis, and Whitney Wilder of Collierville; five gr-grandchildren, John Wilder, IV, and Judith Suzanne Wilder, both of Longtown, Russell Wilder, Marcel Wilder and Ansel Wilder, all of Knoxville. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Wed., June 9th at the Braden United Methodist Church with Rev. Gail Gaddie officiating. Interment was in the Belmont Cemetery near Mason. Memorials can be sent to the Braden United Methodist Church, 230 Hwy. 59, Mason, TN 38049. ............... MIRIAM EUGENIA WINTERMUTE of Selmer, 85, died on June 6, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Wintermute was a retired social worker of the McNairy County Department of Human Services. She was a member of First Presbyterian Churches in Selmer and Savannah. She is survived by her husband, Rev. John Wintermute; two daughters, Wendy Wintermute and husband Lawrence Harman of Albuquerque, NM and Katie Wintermute of Selmer; three sons, John Stephen Wintermute and wife Janice of Kingsport, Timothy Wintermute and wife Katie Sutcliff of Ann Arbor, MI, and Will Wintermute of Selmer; and a brother, William Berst of Florida. Mrs. Wintermute also had five grandchildren and six gr-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 7:30 on Wed., June 9th at the First Presbyterian Church in Selmer. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, The Christian Children's Fun, or Korean Christian Fund in Lieu of flowers. ............... CHARLES HUTSON of Crump, 74, died on June 5, 2004 at Hardin County General Hospital in Savannah. Mr. Huston was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He was a former member of Jackson Ave. United Methodist Church in Memphis. Mr. Huston was also retired from Dupont Plant in Memphis. Mr. Huston is survived by his wife, Martha Brown Huston of Crump; two sons, Richard Huston and Eddie Thomas Huston, both of Bartlett; and two daughter, Brenda Sue Kaneer of Millington and Kathy Jane Dunn of Bartlett. Mr. Huston also had ten grandchildren and two gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tues., June 8th at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Adamsville with Rev. Danny Atkinson officiating. Burial followed at Memory Hill Garden in Ellendale, TN, with a graveside service at 3 p.m. on Tues., June 8th. ............... ROGER D. STANLEY of Bethel Springs, 55, died on June 5, 2004 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Stanley was a retired truck driver and a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. Stanley and Lois Talley Stanley of Bethel Springs. He is survived by his wife, Shelia D. Stanley; a daughter, Tasha Wilmeth of Bethel Springs; a son, Steven Stanley of Middleton; three sisters, Brenda Wilson, Barbara Douglas, and Kay Russell, all of Bethel Springs; a brother, James K. Stanley of Bethel Springs; and three grandchildren, Jessica Stanley, Desta Marcum, and Dakota Stanley. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Tues., June 8th at 1 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with James Smith and Andy Roberson officiating.
