GANUS, GANOS, GAINUS George W Ganus and Nancy Barron Known children: Mary Ann David J Eli James F Mary Ellinder John W Malinda Louisa George Ganus was born ca 1815 in SC and his wife Nancy Barron was born ca 1818 in Georgia. Nancy was the daughter of Mary E Barron, born ca 1786 in Georgia. The husband of Mary Barron is unknown. Mary died after 1880, maybe in McNairy County, if not in Hardin County, Tennessee. She is on the 1870 McNairy County, TN census with George and Nancy, age 85. Mary E Barron is in Marion Co, Alabama in 1860, Pikeville Postoffice on page 531. She is shown at 74 years old, Sarah, age 34, seamstress, William age 13, and Sarah age 11. The children probably belong to Sarah. It is unknown if Sarah is a daughter or daughter-in-law of Mary. A William Barron, which could be the son of Mary, shows up in McNairy County in 1880. He is in district 15 HH 57. He is age 56 born Ga and wife L J age 39, daughter Mary 1 age 21, M C Kemp age 16 (step-daughter? ), R O C age 1 female, daughter. William's wife may have been married first to a Kemp. George and Nancy show up in McNairy County, Tennessee in 1870 in the 7th district HH 157 along with her mother and several of the children. The Gaines family was found in Marion County, Georgia in 1850, page 236. Living next door is Eason Gaines age 42, Young Gaines age 25 and George W Gaines age 33. There is a possibility they are brothers. The George W Gaines family is shown as George W Gaines age 33, Nancy age 33, Mary Ann age 8, David J age 6, Eli age 4, James 2 Ellinder age 1 The Ganes family is found in 1860 in Marion Co, Alabama, Pikeville Postoffice.
