    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper Wed., Oct. 5, 2005. RICKEY TERRY COOPER, age 46 of Bethel Springs, TN, passed away on Sept. 20, 2005, at Bolivar General Hospital. He was a Baptist in belief and worked in asphalt paving for Jackie Roach. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his half-brother, Charles E. Byrd. He is survived by his parents, J. D. and Carolyn Smith Cooper of Bethel Springs; his companion, Renae Rinehart; two stepdaughter, Brandie L. Rinehart and Brianna N. Rinehart of Bethel Springs; two sons, Chase Cooper of Ramer, TN and Joseph C. Cooper of Bethel Springs; and two sisters, Jeanette Rowland of Bethel Springs and Brenda Moore and husband Jerry of Martin, TN. Services were at 4 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 22nd, in the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Terry McDonald officiating. Burial followed in Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs. Pallbearers were Stanley Cooper, Harold Cooper, Jimmy Cooper, Perry B. Smith, Steve Carroll, and Jackie Roach. EMMA LOU BARNETTE CARTER, age 83 of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Sept. 21, 2005, at Health Center of Pensacola. She was born and reared in Parsons, TN, the daughter of the late Rev. John and Fannie Davis Barnette. She was married to William Grover Carter in 1941 and they made their home in Memphis, TN most of their married life. When Mr. Carter passed away in 1982, which she then moved to Florida in 1997 to make her home near her daughter. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Mrs. Carter is survived by two daughters, Virginia Davis of Pensacola and Peggy Pasko of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Evelyn Davis of Ohio; one brother, William Barnett of Jackson, TN; two grandchildren and one gr-grandchild. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 1st, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Selmer, TN with Wade Paris officiating. Casey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. JACKIE WAYNE POINDEXTER, age 53 of Selmer, TN, passed away on Sept. 28, 2005, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was a jeweler and a Baptist in belief. Mr. Poindexter was preceded in death by his mother, Kate Foster Poindexter; his father, John C. Poindexter; and one brother, George E. Poindexter. He is survived by his companion, Joan Johnson; one daughter, Amanda Beth Poindexter of Corinth, MS; one son, Jared Heath Poindexter of Corinth; three brothers, John W. Poindexter of Memphis, TN, Joel T. Poindexter and wife Edith of Independence, MO, and Andy L. Poindexter and wife Carolyn of Eastview; one sister-in-law, Linda Poindexter of Selmer; thee grandchildren, Mallory Wigginton, Kaylie Wigginton, and Landon Heath Poindexter; a host of nieces and nephews. VIOLA JEAN BROWN WHITE, age 57, of Savannah, TN, passed away on Sept. 29, 2005, at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah. She was a member of Ward's Apostolic Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. White is survived by her husband, Junior White; two daughters, Clara Mae Brown of Bethel Springs, TN and Susan Kay Edwards of Rome, GA; two sons, Hershel Lee Tilley, Jr., of Finger, TN and Terry Dwayne Tilley of Savannah; one step-son, Chris White of Caruthersville, MO; two sisters, Rose Mary Jones and Mary Ann Wallis, both of Duluth, GA; and fifteen grandchildren. Services were at 1 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 2nd, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Savannah with burial following in Holland's Creek Cemetery in Hardin County. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ JULIA DEE MARTIN LITTLEFIELD, age 83, of Adamsville, TN, passed away on Sept. 29, 2005, in Jackson, TN. She was a member of the Adamsville First Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Littlefield was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ollie Baker Martin; her husband, Hubert Littlefield; one sister, Teresa Gatlin; three brothers, Ray Martin, Clavis Martin, Erva Martin; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Terry and husband Melvin of Savannah, TN; two sons, Harold Littlefield and wife Janet of Adamsville, and Marty Littlefield and wife Kathy of Jackson, TN; one sister, Lois Martin of Benton, AR; one brother, B. J. Martin of Benton, AR; four grandchildren, fifteen gr-grandchildren, and one gr-gr-grandson. Services were at 1 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 1st, at Adamsville First Baptist Church with Phil Mitchell and Barry Littlefield officiating. Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ ROBERT DOUGLAS "BUD" ROUSE, age 70, died on Sept. 30, 2005 at his home in the Old Friendship Community. He was born and reared in the Old Friendship Community of McNairy County, the son of the late John Henry and Harriet Lou McCann Rouse. He went to school at Finger and graduated Bethel Springs High School in 1953. He was married to Patricia Schopp in 1954 and they made their home in Aurora, IL, where they owned and operated Bob Rouse Realty. While in Aurora, Mr. Rouse was a member of the Eagles Club, the Moose Lodge, the Turner's Athletic Club, and a member of the Aurora Board of Realtors. He retired in 1994 and moved back to the Old Friendship/Finger area where he was a member of the Henderson Elks Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Bethel Springs. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Schopp Rouse of Finger, TN; two sons, Larry Douglas Rouse of Aurora and Bobby Lee Rouse of Finger, one daughter, Cindy Howenstein and husband Larry of Little Rock, AR, one brother, Larry Wayne Rouse, two sisters, Imogene Rouse and Lurlene Sanders and husband Tom, all of Finger, three grandchildren and seven gr-grandchildren. Services were at 11 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 3rd, at the Casey Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Eggenberger officiating. Burial will be in the Old Friendship Cemetery. She was co-owner of Faye's Fabrics in Adamsville, TN. Mrs. Cooksey was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lonzo and Valley Mae Rickman Smith; one sister, Ruby Mae Wesson; and four brothers, Cletus Payton Smith, Leo Strovin Smith, Franklin D. Smith, and Glen Douglas Smith. She is survived by her husband, Cletus Cooksey; one daughter, Lee Dale Henley of Jackson, TN; one son, Donnie Terrell Cooksey; two sisters, McNeva Holt of Enville, TN, and Hazel Lee Davis of Sardis, TN; two brothers, Robert Gene Smith of Henderson, TN and Gerald C. Smith of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren, Angela Blankenship, Tommy Henley, Jr. Anthony Cooksey, and Jon Jon Cooksey; and five gr-grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 28th, at the Adamsville Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Lloyd Blankenship officiating. Burial followed in Milledgeville Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer were in charge of the arrangements. ................ WILLIAM EUGENE GAGE, age 70 of Selmer, TN, passed away on Sept. 28, 2005, at McNairy Regional Hospital. He was a retired tool and die worker with Devant Sealants in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Gage was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Albert Gage and Violet Nadine Williamson Gage, and his wife, Demetra Brown Gage. He is survived by three sons, Richard Gage and wife Cathy of Selmer, David Gage of E. St. Louis, IL, and Robert Gage of Granite, City, IL; one sister, Verna Mae Rebstock of St. Louis, MO; and two grandchildren, Stephanie Gage and Steven Gage, both of Selmer. Graveside services were at 1 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 22nd, at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann, MO.
