Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper, Wed., Aug. 11, 2004 JOSIE WALL McCANN of Corinth, 85, died on Sun., Aug. 8, 2004 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was a member of Farmington Baptist Church. She was a former co-owner of Wall's Grocery in the Farmington Hopewell Community, and she loved her family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, camping and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark Wigginton and Annie Roy Wigginton; her first husband and father of her children, Chester Wall; and her second husband, Fred Douglas McCann. She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Wall Griffin and husband, James of Stantonville; a son, Randall Wall and wife, June of Corinth; a step-son Fred McCann; four grandchildren, Jackey Wall and wife, Marcia, Greg Wall and wife, Jodie, Karen Jones and husband, Charlie, and Angie Martin and husband, Brent; eight gr-grandchildren, Jennifer Noel and husband Paul, Whitney Wall, Lauren Ann Wall, Blake Jones, Kelsey Martin, Kassidy Jones, Vivian Martin, and Austin Martin; and other relatives and hosts of friends. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 10th at Farmington Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Nall and Bro. Thelbert Hill officiating. Burial followed at Farmington Baptist Church Cemetery. WILLIE E ROBINSON of Ramer, 84, died on Aug. 3, 2004 in Kansas City, MO. He was retired from Pacific Railroad. He loved to fish. He served in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife. Clarsella Robinson and son, Dennis Robinson. He is survived by two sons, Levern Robinson and Willie G. Robinson; and two daughters, Marilyn Blackmon and Ella R. Kelly. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 10th at Wade Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial followed at Wade Chapel Cemetery. ........... JIMMY AUSTIN of Savannah, 49, died on Aug. 1, 2004 at Hardin County General in Savannah. Mr. Austin lived in Hardin County all of his life. He was a delivery man for Hunter Smith and Tallent for thirty-two years. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ellen Austin of Savannah; his wife, Pamela Jean Lehnert Austin of Savannah; a daughter, Jamie Nicole Austin of Savannah; a sister, Sherry Qualls of Michie; and a brother, David Austin of Savannah. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thurs., Aug. 5th at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah. Burial followed at Lehnert Cemetery in Hardin County. ......... LEONARD W. TODD of Adamsville, 84, died on Aug. 3, 2004 at Tri-County Convalescent Home. Mr. Todd was a World War II Veteran. He was also an American Legion member and of the Methodist belief. He was employed at Harwood Manufacturing for nine years and Aqua Glass for 8 years. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Bridges Todd; a daughter, Faye Bearden of Adamsville; three sons, Don Todd of Adamsville, Mark Todd of Broken Arrow, OK, and Paul Todd of Georgetown, KY; and a sister, Marguerite Cash of Crump. Mr. Todd also had eight grandchildren and ten gr-grandchildren. Services were held at 3 p.m. on Thurs., Aug. 5th with W. D. McCollum and Bernard Blasingame officiating. Burial followed at Crump Cemetery in Crump. ............ REV. VERNON H. GOBER of Adamsville, 66, died on Wed., July 28, 2004. He was born in Winston County, AL the son of the late Victor Hugo and Mattie Naomi Owen Gober. He was united in marriage to the former O. Ruthie Benson on Aug. 16, 1961. Rev. Gober was a Free Will Baptist minister for 40 years and a farmer. He pastored churches in Tennessee and Alabama. He was a member of Plummers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and served on the board of directors for the Free Will Baptist Family Ministries in Greeneville. He was a former member of Soil Conservation and McNairy Farmers CO-OP. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Ruth Gober in 1967. In addition to his wife, Ruthie Gober of Adamsville. He is survived by two sons, Gary Vernon (Amanda) Gober of Adamsville and Alan Randal (Denise) Gober of Milledgeville; one grandchild, Andrew Hyatt Gober; two sisters, Ruth Thomas of Humboldt and Dorothy Cunningham of Morris Chapel. Services were held Sun., Aug. 1st at the Adamsville Funeral Home with Dr. James Kilgore, Dr. Charles Thigpen and Rev. James Carrington officiating. Burial was in Milledgeville Cemetery. ................ TOMMIE "MATLOCK" DAVIS died on July 30, 2004 at her home in West Memphis. Tommie was formally from McNairy County and a 1953 graduate of Selmer High School. She was a sales associate for Wal-Mart and a member of Calvery Baptist Church of West Memphis. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Davis and her parents Vestie Dancer and J. D. Matlock and her step-father, Loyd Dancer. She is survived by two sons, Barry Davis of West Memphis and Glenn Davis of Horn Lake, MS, and one grandchild. She leaves one sister, Jo Hutcherson of Selmer. ................end Have a nice day!
