She was retired from the Brown Shoe Company and was a devoted Baptist. Mrs. Plunk is survived by her husband Arnold Plunk; four daughters, Jean Shelton of Selmer, Betty Smith of Corinth, MS, Joan Plunk of Selmer, and Jackie Walker of Michie, TN; one son, Roy Plunk of Selmer; nine grandchildren, eighteen gr-grandchildren, and one gr-gr-grandchild. Special friends who sat with Mrs. Plunk are Martha Franks and Dottie Wilson. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 27th at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Frank Whitman officiating. Burial followed at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs, TN. .............. JAMES "ED" HENSON, 71, of Bolivar, died Fri., Aug. 27, 2004 at Bolivar General Hospital. Mr. Henson was the widower of Faye Shytle Henson, who died Aug. 1, 1993. He retired as the Recreational Director at Western Mental Health Institute in 1995. Mr. Henson was born Apr. 9. 1933, in McNairy County, son of the late Buford Henson and Eunice Whitten Henson and lived here since the early 1950's. He was an avid golfer and gardener and attended Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Pam Greenstein of Columbia, MD; two sons, Randy Henson of Memphis and Eddie Henson of Bolivar; one sister, Elouise Foster of Lebanon, TN; and eight grandchildren, Christina, Carmen, Jonathan, Nickolas and Cooper Henson and Mark, David, and Amy Greenstein. Services were 1 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 30th at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Bolivar with David Cooper officiating. Burial was in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. ............... EFFIE IRENE MILLER BRUSH, 93, died on Aug. 27, 2004, she was a resident of Anderson, SC and was retired from F. W. Woolworth Company; a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Epworth Sunday School Class in Anderson, SC. Mrs. Brush was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Cecil Brush; parents, Richard Stanford Miller and Caldona Brooks Miller. She is survived by one daughter, Durelle Taylor of Anderson, SC; three sons, Wendell Brush, Donald Brush and Keith Brush all of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren, and two gr-grandchildren. FRANCES IRENE NELSON, 73, of Bethel Springs, died on Aug. 29, 2004 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was a retired inspector for Harmon International and a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband Harry Lee Nelson Sr. She is survived by one daughter; Anita Austein of Collierville, TN; three sons, Harry Lee Nelson Jr. of Scotts Hill, Donald Nelson and Richard Nelson, both of Bethel Springs; one sister, Peggy Pinner of Moscow, TN; six grandchildren, nine gr-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four step-gr-grandchildren. She was retired from Hamilton Cleaners & Café, and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and also attended Finger Baptist Church. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband Leland Robert Miller, one son, Earnest Ray Miller; parents, Arch & Nannie Hawkins Gray, and one grandchild, Johnny Miller. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Mary Sandra Miller of Bethel Springs; one sister-in-law, Joyce Burks of Adamsville; two grandchildren, Eric Miller of Ramer, and Jason Miller of Selmer; three gr-grandchildren, Cody Miller, Dilan Miller, and Cole Miller, all of Selmer. Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her father, Ethel Martin; one sister, Lilly Mae Davis. She is survived by three daughters, Bridget Fowler of Selmer, Donna Holman of Niceville, FL and Teresa Nance of Brook Port, IL; two sons, Edward "Budda" Martin and Jerry Martin both of Selmer; her mother Lucy Killingsworth Martin of Adamsville; Two sister, Annie Baldwin of Pocahontas, TN and Louise Jernigan of Selmer; two brothers, Junior Martin of Bethel Springs and Ricky Martin of Michie; five grandchildren, and two gr-grandchildren. She was retired from Brown Shoe Company and a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Gary was preceded in death by her husband, Hurshel Gray. She is survived by two sisters, Eula Miller of Selmer and Maggie Ruth Taylor of Memphis, TN; and several grandchildren, and gr-grandchildren. JOSEPH NATHANIEL HICKS, 88, of Selmer, died on Aug. 25, 2004 at Applingwood Rehabilitation Center. He was owner and operator of Nic's Handy Super Store, member of First Baptist Church in Selmer, veteran of World War II, and member of the American Legion Post #297 in New Carlisle, IN. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his wife Arlene Jones Hicks, and three brothers; Harold Richard Hicks, Farris D. Hicks, and Arnold Hicks. He is survived by four nieces and five nephews. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 28th at New Carlisle Cemetery in new Carlisle, IN.
