Appeared in the Independent Appeal Newspaper, Wed., Nov. 30, 2005 EUGENE MINTON, age 75 of Stantonville, TN, passed away on Nov. 20, 2005, at Magnolia Regional Healthcare in Corinth, MS. He was a Methodist in belief and a retired dozer operator. Mr. Minton was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Madgee Minton; one sister, Mae Downing; and two brothers, Dean and Lonnie Minton. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Minton, whom her married on Dec. 30, 1955; two daughters, Loria Minton and Kim Minton, both of Stantonville; and one sister, Jewel Mitchell of Enville, TN. Funeral services were held on Tues., Nov. 22nd, at 1 p.m. in the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Dannie Kennedy officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Vinson Cemetery in Stantonville. CLYDE RAYMOND STIDHAM, age 88 of Bethel Springs, TN, passed away on Nov. 22, 2005, at Jackson General Hospital. He was born and reared in McNairy County, the son of the late Joe and Myrlar Henry Stidham. He attended schools in McNairy County and in 1937 was married to Alene Smith and they made their home in the Masseyville Community of Chester County, where he farmed as a young man. He worked at Firestone in Memphis until he was drafted in the service in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 1780th Engineer Battalion and served in Hawaii. After the service he returned to Masseyville and later worked for International Harvester in Memphis. He also worked for the State of Tenn. At Clover Bottom from 1954 to 1978, when he retired and came back to Masseyville. He was a member of the Little Hatchie Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Utah Stidham and wife Jo, and A. C. Stidham and wife Donna, all of Bethel Springs; and also two grandchildren, Wendy Siler and Kim Stidham, and a gr-grandson, Drew Siler; and a very special friend, Nellie Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Smith Stidham in 2001. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Fri., Nov. 25th, in the Chapel of Casey Funeral Home with Elder Elmer Weaver officiating and burial followed in Cave Springs Cemetery. Casey Funeral Home of Henderson was in charge of the arrangements. ................. JESSE H. GARVIN, age 89 of Ramer, TN, passed away on Nov. 22, 2005, at McNairy Regional Hospital. He was a farmer. Mr. Garvin was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Sally Garvin; his wife, Pauline Garvin; two step-daughters, Dona Mae King and Mattie Sue King; and one step-son, Felix King. He is survived by two step-sons, Frank Estle King and Henry Arvie King, both of Selmer, TN; one sister, Lessie Plymel of Citra, FL; and two brothers, Virgil Garvin and Robert "Bob" Garvin, both of Live Oak, FL. Graveside services were at 1 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 22nd, in the White Oak Cemetery in Ramer with Blake Carroll officiating.
