He was the owner of P & H Lumber and Pallet Company. He was a member of the Bethel Springs Church of Christ. Mr. Plunk is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Lessie Nold Plunk. He is survived by his wife Sue Young Plunk, his daughter, Pamela Allison of Bethel Springs, his sister, Doris Upchurch of Jamestown, and Kay Camper of Milan, and two brothers, Bernard Plunk of Grey, and Scott Plunk of Ubana, IL. He also has two grandchildren Andy and Mark Allison. Funeral services were held on Jan. 1, 2001 at 3 p.m. with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge. Virginia was a homemaker and a member of the First Methodist Church in Selmer. She was also involved in many community projects and church activities. Mrs. Wyatt is preceded in death by her husband Joe Ebb Wyatt. Miss Hopkins is preceded in death by her parents the late Lee Edgar and Lessie Parasee Smith Hopkins. She is survived by three sisters, June Cleary and Athalee Hutcheson, both of Michie, and Betty Jo Curtis of Plant City, FL, one brother, Benton Hopkins of Humboldt, and several nieces and nephews. RAY DOBBINS (1919-2000) was an ordained minister of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and served as the editor of its denominational news and opinion magazine from 1948 to 1984. He died on Dec. 28 in Nashville of cancer. In 1984-85 he also served as the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a 100,000 member denomination in twenty-two states and five foreign countries. In addition, he served for nine years on the Booard of the Associated Church Press of the U.S. and Canada, a national religious news association, and as its President from 1976 to 1978. In 1986 to 1993 he was also the Executive Director of the Tennessee Association of Churches. He was active in both denominational and ecumenical church events and spoke at churches throughout Tennessee, the South, nationwide and in several foreign countries. Dobbins was born in Denton, TX in 1919 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethel College in 1941; a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Memphis Theological Seminary in 1942; a Master of Arts degree in theology from the University of Chicago in 1951; and an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Bethel College in 1960. He originally moved to Tennessee in 1939 and spent most of his career there. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Smith Dobbins of Nashville; seven children, Catherine Dobbins of Hillsborough, CA, Dot Dobbins of Nashville, James Dobbins of Oberlin, OH, Alyce Dobyns-Ladd of Nashville, Bill Dobbins of Brentwood, Cindy Dobbins of Atlanta, GA, and John Dobbins of Memphis, and ten grandchildren.
