Hello, I am writing to ask for help from anyone with information related to Buena Vista Methodist Church near Bethel Springs, in McNairy County. I am trying to pull together some historical information about the church for the upcoming 150th anniversary in 2008. I am looking for information, personal stories or recollections, pictures of the church or the people, newspaper articles referencing the church, any documents associated with the church, or anything else that might be helpful. I have been to the library at Lambeth in Jackson to check for conference references and I have been to the library in Selmer. This is a small county church that is still very active today. There was a school at the church at one time (in the 1800s). There is very little information on the church, so any help that someone might provide would be greatly appreciated. I am also gathering information on the other churches on the same circuit, Sandy Flat, Price's Chapel (later became the Rose Creek Church), Bethel Springs, and Sulphur Springs. There might have been a time when the Selmer Methodist Church was on the same circuit.
