    1. William WALSH - 1850 Census
    2. Billie Walsh
    3. I'm wondering if anyone has any information about a William WALSH listed in the 1850 Census in the eighth "district" of McNairy County. He was 60 years old and listed as "Merchant". It's kind of hard to read but appears that he was not born in Tennessee. Could possibly be Alabama. Found this person by accident and wondering if he is connected to my line in some way. My line was in Coffee County in 1850, and I realize that's a fair distance from McNairy, but......... The name "William" seems to run in my WALSH line. Every generation has one. Not a true indicator, but in olden times sometimes an indicator of connection. (o;]>*HUGGLES*<[:o) Billie Walsh The three best words in the English Language: "I LOVE YOU" Pass them on!

    1. willis - barton
    2. Nancy Kennedy
    3. I can't find any Bartons here early. As the old saying goes I think they "came and went." Most of the Bartons show up closer to 1900. However I did find something on Jackson Willis. There are two by the name Jackson Willis in 1860. One is age 10 living with Ellin Willis (age 28 in 1860) probably her child. Other children are narcissa age 8, Elizabeth 6, Coe 4 and Mary 2. Ellin is in the houshold of Richard (60) and Mary Browder (62). Dist 13m HH 2251. Another Jackson Willis in is living in district 6, hh 872. He is age 12 and living in the houshold of Jackson Browder (28) and Caroline (22). I tend to lean more toward this Jackson Willis. As Robert Young, the MG that married Jackson and Margaret lives close by in the 6th district. However - there is a connection between both of the Jackson Willis boys. Althught in two differnt district - 6 and 13 were fairly close together. In 1850, there is almost next door to Richard Browder, age 43, a G W Willis age 29 and Jane 21. They have Jackson age 2, and Jane age 1. The Jackson Browder that Jackson Willis is living with in 1860 is a son of Richard Browder, and I think that Jane be a daughter of Richard Browder. There is also a John Browder that is brothers. John and Old Richard Browder are still in MCNairy County in 1870, but Jackson Browder and Jackson Willis are not listed. If Ellin Willis that is living with Richard Browder in 1860 is his daughter, I can't figure out which one. Her age is 28 in 1860. Richard has in 1850 Louisa age 21 and Mary age 15. Of course census records are not always accurate. Richard and Mary (Polly) had at least John born 1829, Martha Born 1827, Auguustus born 1828, Loiusa born 1829, Jackson (above) born 1832, Mary born 1835, Franklin born 1838, Frances born 1842 and if Jane is a daughter born 1829. 1. HORN & WARDLOW in Orange Co, NC & McNairy Co, TN
    2. I have noticed conflicting data regarding a Mary Elizabeth HORN (b 31Aug1849 TN; d 30Jun1935 McNairy Co, TN) that married William Riley Wardlow (b 05Aug1849 TN; d ?) in McNairy Co, TN on 10Aug1871. I have their children as James D & Ira D. Is this Mary Elizabeth HORN the daughter of John HORN (b 16Mar1816 NC; d 08apr1900 McNairy Co, TN) and Mary A ? (b 20Oct1825 NC; d 04Dec1895 McNairy Co, TN) or is she the daughter of James F HORN (b 23Feb1823 Orange Co, NC; d 02May1895 Kaufman Co, TX) and Elizabeth Jane WHITAKER (b 22Jul1827 NC; d 18May1885 Kaufman Co, TX)? I have both the aforementioned John HORN and James F HORN as the sons of James F HORN (b abt 1784 Orange Co, NC; d ?) and Elizabeth REDDING (b abt 1788 Orange Co, NC; d ?). Other siblings of John & James F are Stephen, Mary Ann (my line), David, Eliza, Martha & Nancy Jane. I have siblings of Mary Elizabeth HORN as James W, David Burton, John G, Henry L and Nancy Ann. If these are all John's children, who were the children of James F HORN & Elizabeth WHITAKER? If they are James F's children, who were the children of John HORN & Mary A ? Who is Mary A? To add more confusion to the mixture, who are the parents of William Riley WARDLOW? Some have him as the son of John WARDLOW (b 31May1828 NC; d bef 1910 in McNairy Co, TN) and Nancy Jane HORN (b 16Mar1829; d ?). Nancy Jane HORN is a sister to John & James F HORN as mentioned earlier. If John & Nancy Jane WARDLOW are William Riley's parents, then Mary Elizabeth HORN and her husband William Riley WARDLOW were 1st cousins. This wasn't too uncommon for the time period. Some have William Riley as an illegitimate son of John WARDLOW and that Nancy Jane HORN was not his mother. Anyone have any proof one way or the other or about any of this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Any additional dates where I have questions marks, references for proof of data or related info will also be appreciated. I have a fair amount of information on related individuals if anyone is interested. Bill Browning

    3. Old Clear Creek is north of Stantonville on Dennis Barber Rd. Years ago there was a Church here but it moved to Stantonville as the Stantonville Church of Christ. From Selmer, take Hwy 45 S to the light at Walmart, turn left on Hwy 142. Go about 10-12 miles. Turn left on Mt Vinson Road and then immediately turn right on Dennis Barber Rd. The cemetery is immediately on the left. Nancy Kennedy

She is remembered by many - her son's friends, her family, colleagues, and neighbors - as a shinning example of kindness, generosity and grace. Many were welcomed in her home and fed at the table. Many have benefited from her dedication, among them, other women living with breast cancer. "Team Beverly" did record-breaking fund raising for the American Cancer Society's Relay-for-Life. Even in the later months of her illness, she was thinking of others: organizing a toy drive for homeless children in St. Louis, this past Christmas. She was a lifelong member of the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons. She attended Union University and Memphis State University and worked as a medical records librarian at both Hardin & McNairy County Hospitals in Tennessee. She then served as the Executive Secretary to the National Board of Neurosurgery, and later as a medical transcriptionist at Missouri Baptist, in St. Louis. She married J. Terry Collins in 1974 and made a home with him in San Clemente, CA; Memphis, TN; Oklahoma City, OK; Sacramento, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; Chesterfield and St. Charles, MO. Christopher Terrence Collins was born 1975 and john Brian Collins was born in 1977. Bev Collins was an avid fan of her son's sports teams and the Cardinals. She loved the piano, the glow of candlelight, and the scent of fresh flowers she enjoyed gardening and her husband's cooking; and the voices of her grandnephews and grandnieces brought an immediate smile to her face. In addition to her husband of more than 30 years, she is survived by her two sons, Christopher and Brian, of St. Louis, MO; Jessica Cowee of St. Louis; her father, Harold B. Caperton of Adamsville, TN; Sue and Billy Joe Kennedy of Savannah, TN; Nancy and Barry Hodge, of Adamsville; Mary & Roger Smith of Las Vegas, NV; Sean Collins, of St. Louis; Nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends throughout the country. The Family will receive friends at Shackleford Funeral Directors, Stage Rd in Adamsville on Thurs. Apr. 28th from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Fri., Apr. 29th, at the First Baptist Church, 222 West Main St., Adamsville. Burial will be in the Adamsville Cemetery. A memorial Service will be held at Saint Cronan Church, 1203 South Boyle Ave, St. Louis, MO, on Sat. May 7th, at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to "Team Beverly" c/o Catch-22 Foundation, PO box 515, Chesterfield, MO 63003-0515, to support pediatric cancer research. ............... George (65) is on the 1850 St. Francis County AR Census with his wife Lavinia (57) from GA, and also on that Census are families of three sons born in TN: David, 36; Andrew, 26; and Duncan, 19.
