There are no marked graves for Ruth or Rooth. I am still working on unmarked graves in McNairy County, but I got side tracked working on the Purdy calendar. Send me your names if unmarked graves to nancykennedy@charter.net. I have over 1,000 names now. Some may be errors. Some are corrections as the cemetery book sometimes just list the year born or died. I have tried to go back at my old emails and I hope I haven't missed the ones sent to me. My office looks like the garbage dump. Nancy Kennedy >Looking for info on the ADAM RUTH family. Adam apparently died right >after moving from SC just before 1850. Hello. I am looking for information on my great-grandmother Eliza A. James who married Henry Eugene Kiser. Eliza was living with Katherine Mosier in 1870. Does anyone have any information on the Mosier family? Why would Eliza be living with her? Was Katherine's husband Anderson Mosier dead? We find Eliza on the 1870 census of McNairy Co. with Kate, but no husband, and on the 1880 census with children, but still no mention of a husband. Henry was supposed to have died in 1884 or so, but we have no records on him. Eliza took the 3 younger children and went to Massac Co., Ill. Has anyone ever heard of an Adeline Kiser, Eliza's daughter? We have no record of her, either, but she was married before 1900, but where? Any help would be appreciated. This has been a brick wall for so many years. Penny Koch - Nebraska
We are now taking orders for our second edition of the Purdy Historical calendar. It is a community calendar with 12 pictures of Purdy. At this time we do not know what the pictures will be - we are collecting them. This is the last year it will be just Purdy, as pictures are very scarce. Next year it will be county-wide. The cost is $11.00 for me to ship it. You can have 5 listing with one calendar. Most people that live outside McNairy County, put a Memorial listing for ancestor that lived in McNairy County - usually their birthday. This project is sponsored by the Purdy Ruritan Club and our first big project is to build a community center. We have purchased the land. Other projects include cleaning the graveyard, putting up signs, etc where the courthouse stood and other historical features. We also do the regular Ruritan projects as road cleanup, helping the schools and people in need. Let me know if your interested. On June 9, 2005, she went home to be with her lord in paradise. Richard and Ginger Dorman were blessed by the Lord to become her parents. Kathe, Alan, and Karrolyn were blessed to have her as their baby sister. At 3 weeks old, Kay Lynn and her family moved to California and she was so small she rode all the way on a pillow between mommy and daddy. She attended grade school up to the 4th grade in Burbank, CA, at which time they moved back to Missouri. Kay Lynn was a graduate of Marshfield High School in Marshfield, MO, where she enjoyed playing the flute in the school band along with other school activities. Kay Lynn enjoyed her younger years playing with her brother and sister, as well as becoming a Brownie and Girl Scout. The family love camping and fishing together, and Kay Lynn could put up a ten or bait a hook as well as any boy! Yet, she was "girlie" all the way and loved playing dress-up and was a "proud mommy" to her collection of dolls. At the age of twelve, Kay Lynn accepted Jesus into her heart and was born again. She loved playing her flute in the church band. In 1983, Kay Lynn and her parents moved to Memphis, TN, where she met and fell in love with Tim Blankenship. On Oct. 29, 1983 Tim and Kay Lynn were married. Shortly after that, they moved to Adamsville, TN, where they became members of Love & Truth Church and served in the children's ministry from 1991 to 1999. While leading busy lives, Kay and Tim always had a heart for the children of the community. They became foster parents to several children and even saw some of them baptized. Then, along came a blessed event! The Lord sent down his tiniest little angel and they named this beautiful gift Elise Claire. Elise was only 3 years old in 1999 when they were told Kay Lynn had breast cancer. She bravely fought this enemy and for eighteen months Kay Lynn was considered to be in remission, only to find later that the cancer was back. Nonetheless, she felt she would beat this enemy again, enjoying life to the fullest, and never losing the faith that God would heal her. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Tim, Kay Lynn and Elise moved to Florida to be near Kay's sister Karrolyn and continued seeing specialists there, but to no avail. Then the two families moved to Wisconsin, closer to the Mayo Clinic where Kay went for further testing. She fought the fight and ran the race, and now she is at peace in the arms of God. Kay Lynn is survived by her husband, Tim, her daughter, Elise, her parents, Richard and Ginger Dorman of Hartland, WI, her sister, Kathe Workman and husband, Richard of Blue Spings, MO, her brother, Alan Dorman and wife, Paula of Atlantic Beach, FL, she sister, Karrolyn Booher and husband, Dan of Pewaukee, WI, a grandfather, George Carr of Burbank, CA, her mother and father-in-law, Dan & June Graves of Memphis, TN, her sister-in-law, Pat Hoch of Selmer, TN, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. ........ I got a few questions about the Purdy calendars from some new-comers to the McNairy Group, , so I thought I would tell everyone at the same time. Purdy was the first county seat of McNiary County, up to 1891 when it moved to Selmer. It was a quaintlittle town, but alas there a few pictures. When the county seat moved, Purdy became a ghost town overnight. The original "court square" is still the main road through Purdy, and a Purdy Ruritan has been organized. Plans are to build a community center, help with cemetery cleanup, and other things to help keep the history alive. The 2005 Purdy Historical Calendar was the first, of what I hope is many. We had a different picture for each month and one for the cover. It was also a community clendar, that list birthdays, anniversaries, and honoriums. It was a great success, but this may be the last year we can get enough Purdy pictures, then plans are to branch out and get pictures from the county. The calendars sold for $11.00 which included poistage and will be the same price this year. We are soliciting pictures of Purdy that we don't have and anyone that submit a selected picture gets a calender. So if you have a pciture email it to me at nancywkennedy@hotmail.com. Right now we don't have any idea of what pictures will be on this calendar, we have some, but not enough. I will annouce the pictures as soon as we know. Nancy
