Not in order. Gann's Store, Purdy probably in the 1850;s. (L-R) Vernon Sanders, Gordon Murray, J T Inman, O'Neal Murray, John Ross Murray, Marie Inman Brooks, Larry Murray, (front) Willie Gann. Little Miss Mary Hurst, about five years old. Born 1910 and died 2004. Family of E C & Eula Plunk Holland, Christmas 1959. Seated: Loyce, E. C., Sula & Carlos. Standing: Cleo, Leslie, Elmo, Melvin, Charles, Perry Everette & David. All nine boys attended school at Purdy. (Deceased: E. C. & Sula, Loyce, Carlos, Elmo & Leslie.) All boys except David rode the school wagon to Purdy school for a period of time. The wagon was driven by E. C. Holland and Henry Plunk. Purdy Girls Basket Ball Team of 1930: Frankie Young and Nolie Bias (Forward) Ila McCombs and Mae Van Dyke (Guard) Jessie Williams and Pauline Williams (Center), Loraine Farris, Electra Galbraith and Juanita Massengill (Subs). Celia America Crump and John Leweter, married ca 1876. Celia was the daughter of Elizabeth Steadman and Dr Richard Crump. Miss Bessie Dodds and Miss Mary Dodds chop cotton in their field adjoining the old Purdy Courthouse lawn. They lived in the only house that is still standing from the pre Civil War days. Picture taken about 1960's. Tombstone of William D. Jopling, 1820-1904, in Bethesda Cemetery near Purdy. Jopling was McNairy County Sheriff at the time of the first and only legal hanging in McNairy County which took place Sept 7, 1860. Murray School House students 1838-39. Damron, plumber and electrician. Old Purdy School Bell. This old bell was the one used at the Purdy School College. Joe Tacker bought it when they had a sale. It was passed on to Troy Tacker then to Marie Tacker Henry.

He died of disease in the Confederate army. She later married a Rimmer. Jacob Haneline(several spellings) m. Margaret E. ? in the 1840's. They are on the 1850 St. Francis Co, AR Census. They had these sons born in TN: David (1814); Joseph (1818); James (1820); Andrew (1824); Duncan (1831); Newton (1835) that I have been able to document.
