    3. Good morning members: Dona (Caldonia) Whitaker born in McNairy Co in Dec 1871, she married on 9 Dec 1888 in county to J.L. GRIFFIN. In McNairy Co. 1900 she is listed as a widow and has son Dee GRIFFIN born in Dec 1894. Donie and Dee are in the household of Creasy CHAMBERS in the 9th district. I have not been able to locate Donie or Dee after the 1900 census. Can someone identify this J.L. GRIFFIN and maybe have info on Donia or Dee??? Thanks Pat pwjones@centuryinter.net

    2. Hi, I just joined this list. I'm researching the Kinchen family. Laney Kinchen was born in McNairy Co., TN abt 1854. He married Emily Frances Hughes 7-18-1872. They had four children Dinah Lela, Solomon, Sarah, and John. Dinah Lela, b. 8-23-1878 in McNairy Co., was my husband's grandmother, and she told us they came to AR when she was just a little girl. We believe Laney's father and mother were Joseph Kinchen and Martha ____? Laney put up a $1250 marriage bond for Emily. I have their marriage license. Young and wife Margaret [Maiden name unknown] Mr Young and Margaret had these children and possibly more unknown. Steven Young, Born NC 1809 Married Martha [ Unknown] Ruth Young , Born NC 1814 Rebecca Young, Born NC 1822 All the above were living in McNairy County, TN in 1850. Steven and Martha Young had these children: [1] Selunda Young born NC 1833 [2] Johnson Young born NC 1835, died McNairy County 1880 married Catherine White, Had 2 children Louarka Fanny Young and son John D.S. Young. [3] Elizabeth Young B. NC 1839 [4] Susanna Young B. NC 1841 [5] Martha Young B. NC 1844 [6] Rebecca Young B. TN 1846 married John M. Ross in McNairy County, TN 30 Jan 1863 John M. Ross and Rebecca Young Ross are my gg grandparents. John M. Ross just shows up from anywhere and married Young Rebecca. I haven't found John M. Ross on a census record before 1870 and not after 1880. In fact i've nothing about this family anywhere!! Thses are children of John M. Ross and Rebecca taken from the 1870 and 1880 McNairy Co. TN census [1] Mary J. Ross b. KY 1865 [2] John M.     3. I am seeking any info on the following Harris family members. In the 1860 Census they are listed as living in the Monterey district (9) of McNairy County. The names listed are: H.W. Harris, age 49, his wife, Lucinda age 39 Rebecca J. 18 John T. 14 Lucinda 12 Hugh W. 10 (in later censuses he is listed as Hugh D.) Martha 7 Nancy P. 4 Susan E. 1 Rebecca Blay age 65 (she is listed as being born in VA) The marriage records (all marriages took place in McNairy County)I have found are: Martha A. Harris married Samuel Comer September 3, 1882 S.E. Harris married Robert Blasingame December 24, 1883 N.P. Harris married R. D. Utley September 2, 1883 Everyone seems to disappear from McNairy County around the turn of the century.     3. McNairy Researchers, By 1822 Charles Cagle was living in that part of Hardin Co., Tn that was to become McNairy Co. in 1823. He was appointed by the Hardin Co. Court to lay out and mark the best road from Browns Ferry on the Tennessee River to Able Oxfords residence. In 1837, Charles bought 87 acres of land in McNairy from Daniel W. Martindale for $800 and sold the same property the following year to Archibald C. Houston for $1000. Does anyone know any of these people or where this property was located? What happened to Charles Cagle? David

The ones I was referring to were mainly the descendants of Hiram Calvin Vinson who was born l822 and was married to MARTHA ANNA KENDALL. His father was Jesse Vinson and there were many children who came to this area also. I have some of the children's names--but here it is rather sketchy!!
