Hi Bobbie, Samuel Dancer and Nancy Barnes married 23 March 1823 in Stewart County, TN. Barnes researchers we have corresponded with seem to think that her father was Dennis Barnes, Sr. She was b 1800 in SC according to the 1850 census of Tishomingo Co, MS. We have NO DOCUMENTED PROOF of her parents. The decision seems to have been reached by a process of elimination. Dennis Barnes seems to be the logical father for Nancy. I have often wondered if Elijah Dancer's wife was also a Barnes. We do not know who she was. We do know her name was Margarite. Elijah Dancer and a Barnett Dancer [we had never heard of Barnett until this paper] were heirs in the settlement of the estate of Jesse Barnes in 1849 in Benton Co, TN. Margarite was not listed. It would be great to know the connection. He was not an heir for no reason. I am researching a Samuel Comer who married my g-grandmother's sister Martha A. Harris in 1882. They seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth around the turn of the century maybe they are related to your Comers. I am researching the family of Ed Comer who lived near Selmer. His daughter was Mary Malissa Comer who married James Monroe (Monty) McKenzie about 1903. They had three children: Inez buried as an infant in McKenzie Cemetery, Roy and Troy. They moved to Springtown/Weatherford, TX in 1921 via Arkansas. Monty McKenzie was a constable in McNairy County and was the son of David Pickney McKenzie (McKinzie or a variation thereof. Know very little about Comers. Will be glad to share what information I have. Thanks. Virginia McKenzie
