I'm looking for help in figuring out who was the wife of Albert/Absolom/A.L.W. Crumby. He was apparently a well known figure in Hardin county in the 1860s and 1870s. He was mentioned in the local newspapers and in Tony Hays' book, "On the Banks of the River". In the Hardin Co. 1860 census, he was identified as a Teacher and in the 1870 census as a Grocer in Savannah. He was enumerated in the Hardin Co.census' of 1860, 1870 and (his family) in the 1880 census in the 12th CD of the county, which puts him in the Morris Chapel and Rights area of the county.. He was born June 22, 1828 and died Jan 19, 1880 according to his headstone inscription in Morris Chapel Cemetery. He was also a Mason. I have written to the Masonic Lodge in Savannah for their help. He was my GGfather; his son, Henry Thomas, was my Gfather. He, Albert, was married to a Mary A________? I thought for some time that he had married a Mary A Jones in 1852 in DeSoto Co., MS, but recent data from another source seems to dispute that. I remember that my mother told me some time ago that her Grandmother (Albert's wife) was a HARBERT....perhaps a sister to a Dr. Harbert, a well known figure in Hardin County in the early 1900s....1900-1920. Does anyone have any marriage info on this couple....Do you know of anyone that is doing research on the Harbert line that might shed some light on this? I will be happy to share what info I do have on this line. Best Regards, -- Tom Courtney tomone@flash.net -- Tom & Theresa Courtney tomone@flash.net

Hi I am researching several family surnames in McNairy County: Hendrix, Hartman, McRimmon, Reeder, Lockman, Hamm, Houston, and Fulghum. On Hartman, I am trying to find information on James C. Hartman and his wife, Mag McRimmon Hartman. They came to McNairy in the late 1800's from NC. Jim's dates are 1842-1918. Mag's dates are 1845-1923. Both died in McNairy Co. I am also trying to find info on Mag's brother-Harrison McRimmon(1840-1922). He came to McNairy with them. He supposedly was a school teacher. Her sister, Mary Ann McRimmon McCallum and her husband, Angus McCallum came to join them. All were members of Bethel Springs Presbyterian Church. Does anyone have info on this line? Thanks. Susan
ELIJAH DANCER and wife MARGARETT BARNES lived in McNairy County, Tippah Co (1840 listed as Elijah Dancy) and in Tishomingo Co, MS for a short time. Margarett's maiden name has become known since this LIST began. [! Thanks to Bobbie Wilson!!!!] We do not yet know the names of her parents. Elijah and Margarett married in probably Stewart Co, TN abt 1823 and had ten children. After Margarett's death, Elijah m (2) EMOLENE HIGGINS MORRIS in 1859/1860 and they had three daughters. Children of Elijah and Margarett were: 1. John Dancer b 1825 TN - killed by outlaws just after CW - m 26 Jul 1844 in Benton Co, TN to FRANCES COMBS - family moved to Arkansas. Seven children. 2. Son Elijah Mitchell migrated to TX & is listed in Denton Co in 1880. 8. Maria Elizabeth Dancer b 13 Oct 1844 MS d 1875 Lee Co, MS m 15 July 1869 [ marriage location unknown] DANIEL PITTSER SEAY [record from family Bible] - two children 9. Susan M. Hi! I am fairly new to this list and have been just lurking for a while, to see if I would see anyone kin to me. I am looking for someone else that might be researching the McKAY family. I am descended from Hugh Jackson McKay, who was born 1820 in AL, and I believe that he was the s/o William McKay of Ireland, and his wife Jane ? of SC. I am descended from Robert Franklin McKay, s/o Hugh Jackson and his wife, (possibly Matilda Reece). Robert had a twin sister Mary F. McKay that married a L.H. Marrow. I think that they lived in Ramer, TN and had a daughter, Virgie, that married a Stanfield. I don't know much about this family, but I think that Virgie had two brothers, (at least), Devero and Clyde. Anyone know this family? Do you know of anyone researching the McKay family? I would like to share info with anyone researching this family. Thanks.
