    3. Dear Lanelle: The only Mary that I have that is in your Mary's age area is born about 1836 to Mariah Scroggens LaRue and Stephen larue. Mariah or Maria (both are used in census) scroggens born abt 1790 in nc. Married 1819 in Jefferson co. AL to Stephen LaRue. On census his children say he was born in TN. He died around 1837 Mc Nairy co. This is all I have, This family must have truly belongs to a protection program Let me know if I can help in any other way.     3. My husband is a Gage descendant but I haven't done enough research to be very helpful. There were at least two brothers in the area, i.e., Samuel and his wife, Mary Ann, and Mathew and his wife, Kettera. Most of the Gages in McNairy Co., TN., descend from these. Mathew is a little more elusive as he seems to wander from county to county but think he had more children than Samuel. I haven't been able to totally separate the children with any accuracy as yet but think that your John Jefferson was probably from Mathew Gage's line.
