    2. I would be willing to bet it is, or perhaps it is his son. The first time I wrote to him was about 3 years ago, and he was at college, or at the college in Murfreesboro, if memory serves me correctly. I understand he surveyed the old Browder graveyard a few years ago. I found a letter in the files at the library in Selmer that he had written to Al Brown. Dale

    3. I am researching the ancestors and decendants of Benjamin CURTIS, my g-g-grandad, born about 1798, place unknown, but possibly Alabama. He died about 1853 in McNairy County. His wife was a Sarah???, said to have been Native American, but I have no proof. Their children were: Joel D., Jane, Malinda, Arilla, Solomon and Benjamin, all born between March 1831 and March 1846 in McNairy County. Joel D. CURTIS, married a Margaret JEWELL in McNairy County. Margaret and her sister Jane JEWELL, were the children of Tabitha JEWELL. Unknown as to who Tabiltha's husband was. All these folks are found on the 1850 McNairy County census. I would be more than willing to share informtion on these folks.

    3. Dale I, too, have written to Mark Browder but no reply. I don't know if it's the same Mark Browder however. The one I wrote to was John Mark Browder who's father Homer is a cousin to my mother Mildred Browder Crabtree. We grew up just a few houses apart (in Lawton just outside of Selmer, TN) but over the years lost contact.(He is probably 5-6-7- years older than me) I saw him at his mother's funeral but I was not into geneology at the time so didn't ask him anything then.He has a brother Donald, who has a son that is an actor and starred on the series "Party of Five". the son (actor) is Ben Browder. This particular John Mark Browder now lives in Florence, AL. Do you think it's the same one? 3. Thank you for posting the STUTTS information. Clara STUTTS is shown on the 1880 McNairy Co. census living in James H. Stutts' household, and shows that she is a "sister" to James H. I'm not sure if that's completely correct, as I think she's James H's half-sister. I am of the opinion that Clara is a sister to my James Walter STUTTS, and probably a sister to Narcissas STUTTS, who married Wesley WAYNE in Tishomingo Co., in 1876 in Prentiss County. Narcissas apparently died (or divorced) before 1900. Clara, Narcissas & James [Walter] STUTTS are shown on the 1860 Tishomingo County census living in the [Leonard] Martin STUTTS household. I do know that James H.[Henry] is the son of Leonard Martin. Martin migrated to Tishomingo County from Lauderdale Co., Ala. around 1857. Jim jwheat@cyberramp.net

    2. William was living in Rockingham County. And that was have been Levin, not Levi. The other genealogist was Mark Browder who lives in Nashville, or did at that time. My brother-in-law lives in Gallatin, tried to call him, left a message, but never a reply. He even sent a letter, which never got answered. It very well may be that Levin or Levi was her father, not William, but I think that it may be William. I am still trying to work on this. I meant to go to the library yesterday, but forgot about the parade for John Glenn, so I didn't. ( I knew there would not be a single parking place uptown.) It will be sometime next week before I get to the library. I wish I knew more about about Mary's parents, etc. Mark Browder did use a metal detector, or at least I think that was it ,to locate graves in the old Browder graveyard. He wrote a letter to Al Brown, who publishes a newletter (don't think Al has passed away) about McNairy County genealogy. Dale Johnson Huntsville,Al.
