Hi: For the list members that are interested in Ellis and Kaufman Co. TX., the 1850 census can be found at the following web site listed below. There are also some MS 1850 census. Pat http://www.angelfire.com/ny/LesleysWorld/index.html
Some of you have asked about letters of the alphabet that I have already posted. These can be accessed in Rootsweb archives. Also, several have asked for additional info on a surname. It would take a great deal of time to list everything on each surname. I wish I had time to do that but just don't. I will be happy to give you the other information on a full name, i.e. Vicki Roach. Please don't request everything on all Roaches, etc. You might want to contact the man who does these indexes. He has many publications (including the land grants) for sale at a reasonable price. I am looking for my gr grandparents; Ezekiel Graham,bn 1/1/1810,NC who married Susannah G. Jones, bn 6/2/1816 on 12/4/1834. I have never been able to find out who their parents are or where they were actually born or married. I do know that they were in Tenn for at least for a period of time because their first child was born 1/17/1836 somewhere in Tenn. I think that they were in either Hardeman County or Mcnairy County in Tenn for at least in 1836 then moved over in Miss., Marshall county and then Teppah County. I saw one listing showing them as being born in Bedford county but I think that is wrong. Does anyone have any informtion on them? I would really appreciate any information on them that I can get. I seem to be up against that brick wall!! Vicki: Would it be possible for you to send me the Entry number, number of acres, date and page for the Jackson men you listed? Thanks! Denice
Jan: I do not believe that Jacob Jackson had a son named George Wesley. If George was born in 1853, it would be almost impossible for Jacob's wife, Mary Philpot to be the mother. She would have been 55 years old (she was born in 1798). Jacob did not marry his second wife, Sarah Burkeen, until 1859 so she couldn't be the mother. Reuben did not have a son named Jacob. Denice
The will of Lewis EZELL was written " . . . the 5th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and forty-one . . . " and " . . . Recorded 8th day of Nov. 1841." in Lauderdale County Alabama. The will states, " . . . and I further give to my daughter Winney BLANKENSHIP, formerly Winney KNIGHT . . ." McNairy County census records for 1840 (one year prior to Lewis' death) include: 1840 Federal Census McNairy County Tennessee Winney KNIGHT head of household 1 male 15-20 2 " 20-30 1 female 15-20 1 " 40-50 Is anyone researching Winney EZELL KNIGHT BLANKENSHIP's descendants? Does anyone know BLANKENSHIP's given name? Have data on Winney's parents and siblings that I am willing to share. Modene Knight Thornton Freestone County Texas

Researching the family of Jacob Jackson born ca 1790, died 1880. Arrived in McNairy Co. about 1815. He had a son named Reuben who married Emily Ann Todd. Their son James W. (J.W.) married Louisa "Eliza" Anderson daughter of John and Mary Ann (surname unknown) Anderson. I'd love to hear from anyone researching these names. Denice Lipscomb
I am researching the ancestors and decendants of Benjamin Curtis, born about 1798 (place unknown), but possibly Alabama. He married a lady named Sarah???, who is said to have been American Indian. Their oldest son, Joel D. Curtis, married a Margaret Jewell, daughter of Tabitha Jewell. All are found on the 1850 McNairy County census. They had several other children. Joel and family moved to Arkansas before 1860. I am more than willing to share information on these folks.
Members: Tracy is right, we received several new members on the list over the Holidays, so we need to let them know who we are searching for. This can be done by either listing our surnames and a date or by submitting a query. I like to submit the queries myself. You get more information out to them. And after all that is what this list is about. Thanks to all of you for making such a great member list. Pat
Hello all! I thought we might have some new subscribers who are researching the MCGEE and EMMONS families of McNairy Co. I am interested in the ancestors and descendants of any of those listed here. I am willing to share what info I have. I suspect that Frank McGee was married at least twice if not three times. His daughter Chapel Bethel McGee was my great-grandmother. She was married to Chester A. EMMONS, b. 03 Feb 1888 in Mississippi. I don't have a marriage date or location. Both Chester and Chapel died in Sheffield, AL. Chester's parents were William "Wes" EMMONS and Lina A. HOPKINS who are both buried in McNairy Co. Any help would be very much appreciated! Hi Johnita and Jan, I do not have the parents of Eva Plunk or of James Plunk. They both married into my line. The CD where I got the info - WFT # 2868 on Vol. 7 - does not list their parents. There are some other Plunks in the index, but no Walter. Daniel L. Burkeen
