As I read the McNairy Co list, I'm surprised at the people who have moved there from Lincoln Co NC! I'm beginning to wonder if they all came in the same wagon train, or if kin told kin and the migration was spread-out. Would it be helpful to all of us to know what families were 'formerly' in Lincoln Co? I know for certain that my Saunders line-- Lemuel, [1798-1849], came from Lincoln Co to McNairy by 1830. His wife was Millia Duncan and her father John Duncan was also 'formerly' from Lincoln Co. Others related to these families, and also from Lincoln Co. were the Lockmans, the Littles, and the Brothertons. A recent posting said that the Neills were from there, what other families are known to have come to McNairy from Lincoln Co? Just wondering, thanks, pat vincent
There may have been quite a migration west from Lincoln County -- many of my husband's ancestors in Tippah and Alcorn Counties in Mississippi came from there too! McNairy is right in that area too! Karen
Hi, Laurel Do you have a Christopher H. O'Neal listed? He was married to Margrett Deaton. One of their children was Margaret Juanita O'Neal (1852-1932). I have a Neill in my database also -- Jemima ("Big Granny) Neil/Neal/Neill, daughter of John Neil/Heal/Heill and Susan Mauney, married Michael Dellinger in the Cleveland/Lincoln/Gaston County area of North Carolina. According to my records, Jemima was first married to a Stroup; second married to Jacob Hovis; and third married to Michael Dellinger (our line). One of Jemima's daughters, Susan C. Neill Hovis, married Michael's adopted son, Rufus Dellinger. I'd love to know more about Jemima and Susan's family if they are in your database. John - Do you have anything on a Benjamin Curtis and family, or Tabitha Jewell and family. Both families were in McNairy County as of the 1850 census. Benjamin was married to a Sarah???, who is said to have been Native American. No husband appears for Tabitha Jewell, but she had two daughters, Margaret and Jane. -----Original Message----- From: Jack75234@aol.com <Jack75234@aol.com> To: TNMCNAIR-L@rootsweb.com <TNMCNAIR-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, January 08, 1999 9:52 PM Subject: Re: [TNMCNAIR-L] Re: Surname SCOTT/GLADDISH/RICH >Johnita, > >Thanks........can I help you with any look-ups? Hello, I am trying to find information on my Great Grandfather. His name was William Gavin Butler Patterson, b. June 27, 1877 in Selmer? McNairy Co. TN. His parents were William Theodore Patterson b. June 8, 1856 in McNairy Co. TN and his mother was Millie Ann Tennessee. William Theodore died Nov. 19, 1887 in Lexington, Henderson Co. TN. Would you by any chance have any listings on any of these names? Also can anyone tell me if there is or ever was a Indian Reservation in McNairy Co. TN? Also I have a John Youngblood who married Angelina Williams on Dec. 12 1880. Angelina was born in 1862 in Breathitt Co. KY. I am not sure if they married in Ky or Ark. But I can get in touch with one of my Youngblood cousins I think if that would help. Thank You Very Much, Susan Foust Wlksnmysol@aol.com
