John, John's brother, Peter Plunk, also went to Texas. First to Titus Co. and then to Hopkins Co. They were there by 1850. John's, brother Jacob, went to Titus Co. and later to Denton Co. John's brother Albert married Susannah Weaver sister to your Lucy. I also think that there is some possibility that the Brown family listed after the Plunk family could actually be a Brewer family. It would certainly be easy enough to misread Brewer as Brown if the handwriting was questionable. I'm not sure if a better microfilm copy would help or not. It's too bad we can't double check these things on the original; however, even then sometimes the handwriting is so bad that it can't be read. Johnita, Mary C. Brewer dau of William Brewer and Lucy Weaver married Allen Peter Plunk son of George Plunk and Elizabeth Adaline Sewell. I know the marriage record says he married a Mary C. Barnes. I think this is a transcriber mistake because the bondsman was named Barnes. Mary Lucy Plunk dau of Allen Peter married Ona Austin Sullivan in Wise County in 1898. Mary Lucy's youngest dau Hazel Aylene Sullivan lives in Oklahoma City, OK and states she remembers her Mother telling stories of her grandmother Mary C. Brewer when she was a little girl. I have Hazels address if you want it. She is 80 YOA and has been doing family history for a long time. John Wayne "Johnita P. Jan, I'm not sure although Barbara Mook sent me the gen report on Elais B. Sewell and it looks good right now. She most likely knows much more about this family than I. The burial plot in Springtown has several of O.P Sewell's and Wm H. Brewer's family buried there. The only connection I have for these families is the marriage of Nancy J. Sewell's marriage to Luke Brewer in 1890 or 1891 and to Tinsley G. Brewer in 1897. The Parker County, Texas marriage book list her as Mrs. Nancy J. Brewer when she married Tinsley G. in 1897. Another transcription of this 1850 census has the child of John Plunk you list as Ray and a male as Reny and a female, age 8. When I read the census I thought the spelling was closer to Ruy but it was really hard to read. The 1860 census sheds a little more light on this child and I read the spelling to be closer to Rosey or Ruey; however, this child's name is actually Rhena Plunk who married Allen Sewell. The other transcription of the 1850 census that I have also lists the family at 1250 as Brown. Johnita [email protected] wrote: > > This was downloaded from 1850 Census, 8th District. Johnita, Thank you very much. Do you think the high quality "Silver Microfilm" might shed some light on this? I have all the information I need on the family. I am trying to place William H. Brewer in 1850. Lucy A. Weaver Brewer was born in 1825 in Chatham County N.C.. Their oldest daughter Nancy A. Brewer was born in 1846, son James C. born 1851, dau Martha C. 1853, dau Mary C. 1855, son John F. 1856, son Tinsley G. 1861 and son Luke 1861. The five year gap between 1846 and 1851 leaves room for a son ??William 1849. The Weaver clan moved from N.C. to Maury County Tennessee about 1820. Lucy Green Weaver died in Maury County Tennessee in 1826 and Shadrack Weaver in 1848 or 1849. Tinsley G. and Martha Weaver, Lucy A. Weaver's father and mother show up in McNairy in 1870 and 1880. Lucy Weaver died between 1870 and 1880. I don't know where she is buried. I assume somewhere in the 8th Civil District. William is shown as a widower in the 1880 census. William H. Brewer didn't die until 9 Jan 1912 in Springtown, Parker County Texas. James C. Brewer was the first to have children born in Texas in the mid 1870's John F. Brewer was having children born in Jacks Creek as late as 1887. William H. lived with Tinsley G. Brewer in 1900 and 1910. Luke died in 1892 in Springtown. Luke married Nancy Jane Sewell daughter of Oliver Perry Sewell and Sleeta Jane Jackson. had one son Orville born in 1891. Nancy Sewell married Tinsley G. Brewer in 1897 and had one son Roy G. Brewer. I assume the family moved in segments from Tennessee to Texas. I'm not sure when John F. Brewer moved to Texas, his oldest son, Clerance Cully died in Springtown in 1898 and John F. Brewer was in Bowie, Montague County Texas in 1900 and Stephens County Oklahoma in 1910 censuses. John F. Brewer's next to the oldest, Burney Letcher Brewer was married to Roy Electra Mainord in Sept 1905 in Harrisburg, Stephens County, Indian Territories. I don't know who William H. Brewer parents were. A couple, John and Dorcus Brewer are in the 1860 and 1870 census of McNairy. Their age is right but I haven't found time to research them. If anyone has families who moved to Oklahoma or Texas the Parker and Wise County Texas web pages have a lot of information about these families. This was a staging area for the later land rushes of the Indian Territories. John Wayne Brewer Bell County Texas. "Johnita P. PHump, I appriciate your effort. Are you looking at the Heritage Quest M432-888, 1850 Tennessee or someone's transcription. The copy of Heritage's digital microfilm that I have is not clear. List, Does anyone know where the 8th Civil District and Anderson's Store were located in 1850 - 1880? The 1850 census has: Dwelling 1249 family 1250, line 42, 8th Civil District, Enumerated on the 8th day of November 1850, B. B. Adams, Asst Marshall. The film I am looking at is in very bad shape and the name is not clear. The age, wife and daughter are correct. The son William does not show up in the 1960 census. I assume he died between 1850 and 1860. Can someone look at another copy of this film and verify what I think I see. William Brewer age 24, born in Tennessee, the occupation looks like "Miller" On line 1 next page. Lucy, age 25, born N.C. Nancy, age 3, born TN. William, age 1 born TN. John Wayne Brewer

Nell, Thank you so very much for your data on the Estes. All you list are the children of Lyddal Bacon Estes and his wife Nancy Estes. Rebecca is Mary Ann Rebecca who was my husband's grandmother. They were in McNairy Co. by 1826 when he got land and on through 1840. They were in Tishomingo by 1843 and by 1870 were in McLennan Co., TX. My husband and I have been in Corinth several times doing research. On one of the trips we found where the old Boneyard school stood, but found no cemetery with Estes. Not far from the Boneyard location is an Eastes Creek. Lyddal B. Estes land bordered each side of this creek. I have been told that there is an Estes cemetery nearby. Odessa, Just a couple of weeks ago someone on the list gave the names of a couple of researchers but I can't find it now. I would think it was not even 50 miles between Chewalla and Kossuth. I don't know where the 9th district was in 1826. I do have some records of the First Baptist Church of Kossuth. 1858 L. R. (says R) Estes baptized; dismissed by letter October 1860 Lee Estes bapatized; dismissed by letter October 1860 A. W. Estes baptized; died 1864 1860 L. B. Estes received by letter Lee Estes received by letter 1866 Rebecca Estes baptized; dismissed by letter Is the Nancy Estes 62-VA with Bacon 24 Tn. and Allen 18 Tn. your bunch? They were family #542 and my Surratt family was family #548 in this 1850 census for Old Tishomingo and at least one of my family members was a member of this church. My family went to McNairy County by the 1870 census. Maybe someone will post the names of the people who research for a fee again. Thanks, Nell. I appreciate your help. The "story" in our Estes family is that they moved 50 miles to Kossuth, Alcorn/Tishomingo Co., MS. I have proof Lyddal Bacon Estes had land in the 9th Dist, 2nd Range, 1st Section of McNairy Co. in 1826. I thought this was near Chewalla. One child was born there. I have proof of his land in Kossuth, MS. Would Chewalla be within 50 miles of the MS land? Can you tell me if there is someone in McNairy Co. who would research this land for me? If so, have them contact me and give me their fees for research. Thanks again.
